Dutch Passion Dutch Passion StarRyder under HS1 - First ever grow journal

Hi Derek! Nice setup, looking to follow on the ride/grow.

Cheers!

Hey, thanks. Good to have you along!

Hey Derek, welcome to AFN. :welcome:
Sweet little setup you got there... jealous of your LED :Cool bud: Should give you impressive results with just one plant.

Just a thought tho... If you're keeping the water bucket in the tent you might want to put a lid/cover on it to block the light or you'll get algae growing in there.
Good luck with the grow man.:Sharing One:

Hi, very good point re the lid! Schoolboy error on my part, I'll knock one up sharpish. Thanks!

Nice looks like you are ready to ROCK with The GN setup ..LOVE my GN leds...TEMP issues suck LOL can make ya plants short if they get too cold .

Thanks man, temp issues are so lame, over the summer it was up at 35 in the tent everyday for months, that seemed to make them short too. Hoping the heating and thermostat have it covered this time!

Just waiting for her to break cover now, I'm like an expectant father...

Hey dude best of luck with this one, im subbed for sure. One thing i have noticed is your light is very far away. So far from what i have seen you should have the light about 50cm above the soil for seedlings and 40 cm for young plants. Your looks a good bit further than that but thats just my two cents. Cant wait to see how you get on man.

Hey man, cheers for stopping by. The advice is much appreciated as I'm still working out what I'm doing in many respects. I've adjusted down to 500mm, which will hopefully be ideal when she gets above ground.

It's Alive!!! - Day 1

Huge sigh of relief! I haven't fallen at the first hurdle, she's tiny but above ground.

Plenty of moisture in the soil for now, will keep an eye on it drying out and water/feed when need be.

Quick question for those in the know; when should I start feeding with cal/mag? From the off or wait a couple of weeks? Last time I only used it to fix a deficiency, but apparently LED means more will be required!

Boring Data logging:
T - 23.1 - 20 C
RH - 55 - 39%
Water/feed - none

Well done man , nothing better than when your seeds make it.She looks nice and healthy, You should start adding cal/mg from 3-4 weeks.

Day 3

She's still small, but she looks to be happy with the light. Gave her a feed 1L with 1mL RootJuice.

Today I added a timer to the light (20/4) as the temperatures still seem very stable between 19.5 and 21.8 C, still not turned the extract on to help keep the temps steady while she's small.

p.s. loving the new GN logo in the thread title, cheers to whoever sorted that out!

Looking great man, thats thanks to TaNg that we have tose new logos over our threads as we along with others on the AFN are the first to test and document the HS1.

welcome Derek and good luck with everything. Auto's and LED, who would have thought we would be growing like this 10 years ago :)

Try and get your temp up a little if you can bro 26-28c with RH between 35-45% for the entire grow will give you the best results under LED.

Ah, nice plan! Cheers TaNg!

Hey man, thanks! Yeah when I started looking into growing I was amazed how much it had changed since I helped a mate grow a couple of plants years back. Being able to use only 75W and get results in 11-12 weeks is incredible!

Cheers for the tip! I have a bit of a headache on this as the tent is in my insulated but unheated loft. I left the loft hatch open overnight which has helped (range between 24 and 21 now) but I'm wondering if I should add a small space heater on a thermostat to the loft to keep the ambient temperature a little higher and get the tent up to the range you suggest.
