This is a 2 part grow report spread out over 2 years using the same strain(single plant per year) The year 1 part of this report was copied from Potpro before it closed.
SeedBank :
Dutch Passion
Strain:
Frisian Dew
Soil/hydro:
Year 1 - In the ground in worked 6X6 foot holes 18inches deep.
Nutes:
Year 1 - 3 wheelbarrows well rotted horse manure. Advanced nutrients nirvana, bloom, bud candy, mother earth tea bloom, overdrive, foxfarm chaching
Year 2 - One large shopping bag of well rotted horse manure and a cup of lime. Used green planet Bloom Fuel, Terpinator and Massive for flower phase.
Light (kind and schedule):
Year 1 - 24hour under t8 flouro's for 2 months, planted in the ground on june 1st.
Year 2 - 24 hour under 100X3w LED's for 2 months(outside on warm days during the day), planted in the ground May 25th.
From seed to harvest date: 5 months, chopped both last week of September
Dry Yield:
Year 1 in the full sun garden - 3lbs 4oz
Year 2 in the partial sun garden(8 hours of sun tapering down to 5) - 12oz
High/Effect Duration:
Good solid relaxing buzz on both plants. Not incredible potent, but it certainly has a solid body relaxing effect. Duration is around 1.5hours.
In-depth
RATE SCALE: 1/10 being the worst, 10/10 being the best.
BAG APPEAL:
Year 1 Full Sun 7/10 - Nice tight nugs. Good crystal overall.
Year 2 Partial Sun 6/10 - Not as tight as i'd like. Nice crystal, but not caked.
THE GROWTH:
Year 1 Full Sun 8/10 - The smallest plant in stature of the 4 different strains, but thick branching and thick ladden buds meant a great yield.
Year 2 Partial Sun 8/10 - The dew grew huge for location. Not only did she get large she also put on a ton of bud for the specific location.
THE GROWTH- MOLD RESISTANCE
Year 1 Full Sun 7/10 - I think I pulled 4-5 small spots out of this plant and lost next to nothing. For the density of the buds very acceptable.
Year 2 Partial Sun 6/10 - I lost maybe 1/2oz total on this plant, but the specific location sees no sun until 2pm in the afternoon and we get heavy daily dew. Not bad considering.
THE GROWTH - TRIMMING DIICULTY
Year 1 Full Sun 9/10 - Excellent firm easy to trim bud. I did defoliate quite a bit which shortened the workload, but was a nice easy trim for sure.
Year 2 Partial Sun 6/10 - The dew was nearly a trimming nightmare year 2....loose buds, and lots of leaf made for a tough trim, but hey thats in minimal sun. Certainly the rating would be higher with more hours of direct sun.
THE SMELL:
Year 1 Full Sun 6/10 - Found it hard to rate this one...for pine lovers it would rate more of a 7, but I only rated it as a 6/10 since its not an overpowering smell. Still a pleasant smell out of the jar.
Year 2 Partial Sun 6/10- Leans over to a more of a skunky pine odour. Nice smell, just not overpowering.
THE SMOKE:
Year 1 Full Sun 8/10 - Nice smooth smoke in either the joint or the vape.
Year 2 Partial Sun 8/10 - Again a nice smooth toke. No harshness at all.
THE HIGH:
Year 1 Full Sun 6/10 - Nice relaxing bodybuzz and enough psychoactivity to certainly know you are stoned.
Year 2 Partial Sun 6/10 - Same as above...might be a bit stronger this season but not by much.
Med Effect
Year 1 Full Sun 6/10 - Not a super strong body effect. The psychadelic effects were not super effective at uplifting.
Year 2 Partial Sun 6/10 - Decent this year at pain ctonrol, but not as effective as some. Stilll works well at calming muscle spasms and if you overdo the smoke it melts you into the couch.
General Comments.
Year 1 Full Sun - A pleasure to grow. Stature stayed very short with training and supported very nice buds formation.
Year 2 Partial Sun - Another pleasurable plant to grow...despite very limited sun she performed great. Nearly doubling my best weight for the specific location the yield was fantastic, and the smoke was better than average. If taste and smell was a bit improved on this strain it would be amazing for outdoor.
Will I regrow the Frisian Dew?
I will not be regrowing the Frisian Dew. Its a solid outdoor strain, but I know I can find better smelling and tasting buds from other strains.
Year 1 Full Sun Frisian Dew
Rack 'Em!
Year 2 Partial Sun Frisian Dew, colas trained to stay below the 4' fence
