That is one hell of a setup True!! :D

I'm gob-smacked! It's like a laboratory!!

Totally Jealous - I'm scrabbling around a 60cmx60cm box. I can only imagine the joy of being able to inspect your plants from all angles hehe .. and those 1000watters - i thought they were phillips gravita at first - real nice kit!

Without knowing previous run off tests - I would go in at 6.3 as you have been, then catch the first 50ml of water that comes out of the holes and test that.

When we have that figure we can work out where you're soil ph is (that's the important part where your roots call "home" ^_^)

Then we can see if you're in the right range for nute uptake and from then can advise how to water and everything will be sweeeet from then :)

There's a guide to figure out soil ph by goAuto6 .. have you seen it? if not i'll post it up here

:d5:
edit: in for a penny .. in for a pound ^_^ here's the chart anyway - it's super usefull.

Rough Calculation Guide: By GoAuto6

Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference

If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5

THANKS Blue ! :)
I will water until run off tonight and report back.
Ive got 9 plants would you do this on all 9 or just the sick plants?

Really is a great set up brother, you have the majority of us in envy of the space and professional/sterile laboratory vibe - really nice to look at. You have more than enough pro's advising you on your plants so I just thought I'd add something to follow on from Blue :peace:

Yes mate :) All of them!

Time to get the note book out - give them all cute names and start taking readings and treating them all individually!! :)

Edit: True, i won't be around for the rest of the weekend, but you can trust any mod to give you good advice based on your readings (and maybe a picture)

If you get stuck or nobody gets an answer to you - post up your readings in the Live Help Thread (staff only replys) with a link back to your thread. We'll get to the bottom of this! :D

Thanks mate, see why Im so frustrated now... All the gear but no idea :(
Ive spent a fortune and really enjoyed setting things up. Doing the research etc
The lights are e-papillon adjustable 1000w :)

Years ago there was no forums or websites I could look at. I had a handful of grow books and things worked lovely.
I had a helpful grow shop who set the law for me and I stuck rigidly to what he said.

Im not sure if its soil as soil can vary but the exactness of nft was real easy for me.
I checked my ec and ph like my life depended on it and I got lovely results.

I know ive neglected this soil ph thing, again advice from others has been forget it... Soil buffers etc etc
So tonight PH is going to be out for everyone to see.

Thanks everyone for the friendly comments :)

Wow true! Thats a cool setup :Sharing One::gthumb:Good luck with your soil ph issues :Sharing One: Im sub'd up to your grow for sure "Munch..munch..munch:slap:

PH numbers are in - Dude do you read me geeza? The numbers are in but what do they mean? :)

Hot day today to be messing about with heavy pots of soil but needs must.
Gotta get these plants singing again :)

Base settings:
200l water butt with 2 golf ball air stones in, water sitting at room temperature of 22c.
PH 8.3
EC 6
This is what Im starting with when I feed. Im using a blue labs ec truncheon and blue labs ph pen.

As per pics in my earlier post we have 3 very sick plants and the other 6 plants have stopped growing and just, only just starting to show signs of being unwell.

Today Ive made up 10l buckets of water from the water butt and set the ph at 6.3.
Each plant has had approx 4.5l of this clean ph adjusted water until a decent run off occurred.

Ive recorded the results from 3 sick plants and 3 well plants.

Sick plant 1:
Water in ph 6.3
Water out ph 5.4

Sick plants 2 & 3:
Water in ph 6.3
Water out ph 5.2

Well plants 4/5/6:
Water in ph 6.3
Water out ph 5.1

So you lovely clever clever people, can you please tell me what this means?
Everything has had a massive drink so there will be no watering for a few days.

Look forward to your replies.
Thanks.

oh crap , without doing the math (my math skills deteriorated 30 years ago) your actual soil ph is VERY low , like a 4

ouch
