Grow Mediums Duckster's 2nd DWC

I probably don't run mine as long as you or do as many grows per year maybe??? But for 35$-45$ I can get few.. I probably get replacement every 18months or so.. 3 grows year usually... since 6" phresh cost like 3 times that I doubt i'm get 36 months out of it to justify the cost..

Hey Ducks, I forgot to mention about the sides of your tent that will get sucked in a bit....what I had done is added side bars around inside of my tent to prevent side from bowing in, it keeps my side walls much straighter and I think you also might want do the same so you do not loose any grow space..you'll prevent loss of approx 1ft overall 2-3inch each side would be sucked in, so almost a foot total, thats alot. It helps what I did for sure.

A good tip. Was this something that the tent manufacturer offered or your DIY. If the former, which manufacturer. If the latter, some pictures would be helpful, especially how you did the connections to the frame.

I thought about that, but I try make habit not to throw anything that has to do with growing/cannabis etc... into garbage, instead I usually burn everything... then recycle that into ash to the garden ;) I'll just have make out of state metal scrap dump... Oh ducks one last thing you plan use CO2 or you won't need use that? I keep hoping someone will make inserts so we can re-use the filter, It wouldn't be hard to design an insert that can slip in or out...Instead filling landfills and scrap yard with used filters...

No plans on using CO2. The carbon can be burnt but you would still have to dispose of the metal bits.

You can refill them just drill out the rivets fresh carbon and pot rivet it back together it's a bit messy though

That is kind of what I had planned on doing.

yeah I have tried it before, it's very messy not very effective its very hard to get it to pack in tight enough need some sort of machine to make it vibrate to help pack it in there, But I know someone beside me has wondered why they simply do not have an insert so you can slide old one out and new one in and use existing frame work..

A great discussion here guys so here is my contribution. My cabinet manufacturer uses their own designed filters. Supposedly patented or patent pending. Anyway it is built so you can replace the carbon. You have to fill the filters when you are doing the cabinet setup. It uses carbon in pellet form rather than granular, so supposedly not as efficient but what the hell it's replaceable and not too messy. It worked well for the first 2 grows. The cabinet manufacturer sells replacement carbon pellets but I thought that it was a bit pricey. I found a much better price but I had to buy 50lbs. I have changed the carbon in my filters a couple of times so I have about 40lbs left. I had planned to buy a filter that wouldn't be too difficult to disassemble and replace the carbon. Had planned to use the fill, shake, and tamp process that I use with the cabinet filters, but this conversation has me thinking that an improvised vibration table might be better. I'm thinking a vibration sander with a thin metal plate attached where the paper would go. Put the sander in a vise plate up. Strap the filter to the plate and there you go. Turn on the sander and slowly fill. Don't know if this would be enough for granular carbon but it should work ok for pellets.

@Duckster I actually made myself, I took the poles from my 4x2x5 tent I wasn't using anymore, right now I kinda have it rigged to work, until I can find or make a way to clip to attach to poles... my text is 4x4x8 so I put the poles at 4ft and basically attached with zip ties for now just hold in place... I do have pics and yes I will get some up for ya, I did also add 2 pipes/poles on 2 sides of the lower 4ft area, you will also see that in the pics... also I like your idea about filling, I tried a couple ways but it probably would of worked had I had help, it's hard to pack vibrate & fill & pack by yourself, it was for me anyways... I have several old filters, maybe you can get send me off pm and we can see what I can do to get ya one to mess with??

oh btw there is a company that sell's the tent accessory for the tents, but they never seem to have 4x4 in stock thats why I did what I did...It's called High-CFM kit I think gorilla is the maker, so yeah it's costly from them but it's exact fit if ya can find it in stock ever...I been looking for 8months plus and still nothing..

if ya could ever find on ebay or amazon for a 4x4 I think price is like 63.99 or something crazy like that...so if that place does have in stock that I showed, that is an awesome price! you can get 2-sets for less then cost of one and it will work better with 2 also.

damn they seem be making up for price with the shipping costs, 2set high cfm kit for 4x4 $58.90 with shipping , I guess it's still cheaper then ebay, besides I couldn't find any kits there... I did place order since they are so hard to come by and do seem be priced decent, I think they could do better with shipping charges, but it is what it is I guess...and you can use your paypal account for payment ;)

I checked out the site. This is a kit for the Gorilla lite series. They won't work on the regular Gorilla tents, the plastic clips are for the smaller 16mm poles of the lite series. This is the same kit that gorilla sells on their site for the same price. The make a high cfm kit for the regular 19mm gorilla poles, but of course they are out of stock ATM. This is the one for the regular gorilla poles but I'm not sure if they have any. https://www.hydrofarm.com/p/GGTXCFM44
