Grow Mediums Duckster's 2nd DWC

:yeahthat: 8" fan plus speed controller FTW
it will work, but its over-kill really... My 6" rarely ever goes half way.....unless your planning upgrade to a 10x10 I doubt you would never anything bigger then a 6" fan, besides filter changes will be a lot cheaper with a 6" scrubber vs an 8" & pre-filter changes...

Wouldn't have a clue ducks I went with a 6 inch phresh silenced hyper fan over kill in a 4x4 x6.5 foot tent never had it off quarter speed I'm running two tents off that one the only downside is if you can't suspend it from elastic bungy cords it vibrates like a bastard oh and it's been running constantly over 2 years [emoji106]

So if you go above 25% does it create a massive vacuum in your tents with the side sucking and such? I'll keep the bungy cords in mind. The vibration sounds like an unbalanced fan blade. You might be able to fix that with a bit of trial and error.

hey Ducks, I use 6" in my 4x4 tent I also use speed router I think any extraction you decide on, you will want a speed router for sure...

Oh yeah - speed control is an absolute must.

So do you run yours at a super slow speed?

A very good point. Will spend a bit of time doing cost comparisons.

It sucks the side of the tent in ducks it's all about negative pressure no smells escape if I run it at half speed it sucks in both tents. The vibration is down to the silencer I knew about that before I bought it but on full power it only uses 40 watts

yeah, pre-filter changes are constant between grows a quick ebay check will easily show, pre-filters alone will save ya a tons with 6" vs 8"...then filter changes must be close to double what a 6" would set ya back... I don't go using top of line filter's either, they not refillable so unless ya like burn money its smart find scrubbers that won't cost your 1st new-born or something.. I tend find good deals on 6" for 35-45$ including shipping and I usually get 3-4 big grows or 6-8 smaller grows out of it..I think 8" scrubber's start around 80+ $$...then ya need get rid of the old ones, I know I have quite a stock built up myself because they not easy to get rid of..

Hey Ducks, I forgot to mention about the sides of your tent that will get sucked in a bit....what I had done is added side bars around inside of my tent to prevent side from bowing in, it keeps my side walls much straighter and I think you also might want do the same so you do not loose any grow space..you'll prevent loss of approx 1ft overall 2-3inch each side would be sucked in, so almost a foot total, thats alot. It helps what I did for sure.

Bury them in a bin bag cover in rubbish and take your old filters to your local tip it's non hazardous so you won't be doing any harm i do it so no one knows I grow [emoji106]

I thought about that, but I try make habit not to throw anything that has to do with growing/cannabis etc... into garbage, instead I usually burn everything... then recycle that into ash to the garden ;) I'll just have make out of state metal scrap dump... Oh ducks one last thing you plan use CO2 or you won't need use that? I keep hoping someone will make inserts so we can re-use the filter, It wouldn't be hard to design an insert that can slip in or out...Instead filling landfills and scrap yard with used filters...

You can refill them just drill out the rivets fresh carbon and pot rivet it back together it's a bit messy though

yeah I have tried it before, it's very messy not very effective its very hard to get it to pack in tight enough need some sort of machine to make it vibrate to help pack it in there, But I know someone beside me has wondered why they simply do not have an insert so you can slide old one out and new one in and use existing frame work..

Because if they had inserts they couldn't charge you full price on a new filter I use phresh filters I've just changed it after over two years of solid growing they are pricey but can't take any chances with smells
