Indoor Duckster gives Wilma a go

Hurricane season and a tropical storm has formed to our south so the local authorities and weather folks are whipping up a frenzy. It's not even a hurricane yet so max winds are under 74, but a lot of rain potential. The Mississippi river has been high for the past 9 months so the levies are stressed. Add another 3-6' depth from the storm surge pushed up the river and levy failure becomes a concern. Not to mention another 8-12" of rain on top of the saturated ground we had from the flooding a couple of days ago. The weather is a bit breezy but otherwise nice today, but I was told not to go to work. They didn't have to twist my arm. Supposed to get progressively worse today and tomorrow. Hope we don't lose power. If we do, I will be harvesting my girls a few days early, in the dark.
Hope it holds off duck's if not stay safe dude don't do a wizard of oz on us [emoji16]

Lions, tigers, and bears - oh my. Follow the yellow brick road! But afraid to click the heels of my ruby slippers - no telling where I would end up!

The frenzy has whipped up a bit more I'm afraid. The rainfall estimates have gone from 8-12" to 10-20". All of the local politicians have to have their press conferences where they bring out their string of puppet department heads to give their updates on whatever.

Been through lots of hurricanes - Katrina in 05 was the worst. All wind damage - needed a new roof and most of the fence was down. Have never had any flooding in this house - touch wood.

Hill? What's that? There are no hills here. My house is on a natural "ridge" a whopping 3' above sea level.

Hope you don't have to live upto your name mate. I'm sure you're an old hand at storm proofing.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys! A good day so far. The storm continues to slowly slide further to our west (good thing). We probably won't get half of the rain they were predicting (good thing). The massive 3-6' storm surge in the river isn't happening. River level came up about a foot but that has already started to recede (good thing). These things normally take a slight turn to the northeast when they get close to landfall. This one is not doing that so far (good thing). I still have power (the best good thing of all - touch wood)
