I think the only advice on the plant I might have is to try and supercrop instead of snipping the heads off. There are some guides that can explain it better than I. Essentially, roll the stem between your fingers to crush the support structure and it will bend over. Don't break or split the stem just make it floppy. The plant should stand it back up and form a "knuckle" at the site. This will give you more clearance and height without removing any of the potential bud sites. If the branch was going to get snipped the risk of the supercrop going wrong won't be any more of a loss.
