Yeah agreed. Perfect world. I constantly think of all the millions of dollars that are spent “trying to grow weed”. Not everyone can, and the millions of dollars trying to grow it would be a tax windfall as well as support tons of small business. At the end of the day the percentage of people that would actually succeed and continue would be small. Just like home brewing beer, and that’s easier than growing weed.
Scenario 1. Weed goes recreational, millions of people who have been waiting run down to the store and spend $30 on an eigth, novelty over and most never buy again. Just the reality of economics, your average Joe isn’t going to shell out the cash to remain stoned constantly if he has to pay big tax dollars.
Scenario 2. Weed goes recreational and Joe decides he wants to grow his own. He spends $500-1000 to get all he needs. He fools around with it for a bit an may or may not succeed. But he sunk 100 times more into the economy to try it. He may be good at it and can help family members or friends that need medicine or relaxation. If so he continues to put money into tb economy. Electricity, medium, nutrients etc etc.
Scenario 3, It goes recreational but the government decides we just can’t manage the plant in our own. Access is limited because the big boys only grow profitable crap. All the good medicinal has been synthesized and is only sold as suppository. Once again we are back taking it up the ass from big pharmaceutical and government.
Wish there was a scenario 4 where everyone acted responsibly in the best interest of there fellow man and not worried about making the rich richer. But ......
Enough of my rambling for now, I’m not as crazy as all that but the health care system and big pharma in the US drive me crazy. Healthcare just should not be a for profit endeavor.
