What percentage of perlite is in the bag with the soil? Do you think it is around like 20% on there?

im not sure as there is about X4 more german than eng instructions on the bag....i asked Andi once but im not sure what he said as i cant speak german.
i guestimated somewhere between 5-10%
but if i start with 4 cups of biobizz lightmix and add 2 cups of perlite to it what percentage is that ? and then if i were to add 1 cup of vermiculite what would the percentages be ? sorry i was never any good at parts/ratios/percentages/fractions.
keep er lit
:pighug:

I've used bb light mix for years ( in 2-3 ltr pots) and have found no reason to add anything. Sufficient perlite is already there...but suit yourself.

I've just started using BB lite mix. Started 2 seeds 10 days ago and already they are huge. Loads of leaves and growing fast. I used coco and perlite in 2 others in fabric pots and they were slow to get going, admit they did get stunted due to transplanting them and some heat issues....but I like the BB, its light and airy and my new girls are very happy :)

The problems with Bio-Bizz lite Mix seems to start around week 3 when the pre-charge begins to wear out. There seems to be quite a learning curve as to when to add nutrients and at what strength. They end up in the infirmary fairly often. Stay ahead of that but I cannot tell you what or how much to use as it seems to vary from grow to grow?

Thanks for that heads up, It makes sense. I added some bat guano to the biolite and from day one (soil prep) have been feeding a very light dose of seaweed extract. Compared to growing the other 2 I have in coco, which I gave nothing for 2 weeks but water, the 2 in bio biz lite have certainly won the race. On Wednesday the girls will be 2 weeks old (from the day they sprouted) and already the growth has been very good, far exceeding my expectation. But that could be also due to changing the lamp but I am sure the soil change has made a difference.

I am going to start adding veg nutes at an eighth of recommended dose on Wednesday, I may introduce the B-52 at a minuscule amount which hope fully will help the transition. So hope fully by 3 weeks, the bio light nutes pre charge will not be an issue. Interestingly, one of the girls has some coco mixed in with the Biobizz lite and this one is a slightly lighter shade of green than the one in pure biolite.... I am in a very experimental phase of my grow set up so making notes as I go on what works what doesn't etc.... but based on what I have seen so far, I think I am fairly happy with the Biolite.

You should be feeding coco from day one? It has absolutely zero nutrient value. Are you trying to balance to many styles at once? It can get confusing.

Im always adding extra 10% of perlite. As for the "Light"part :Count two weeks and then start adding nutes (Im always starting at half strenght for the first(3rd from start) week. Never had any issues

The first seeds I popped when I first started I grew in coco. I didnt feed them as was advised not to until they had 4 leaves. They took ages to get 4 leaves. Not sure I'm trying too many growing styles, I grew photos for a year ten years ago in coco... using rhizo and canna nutes with success in a Wilma . Roll forward, I've decided to switch back to hand watering, got rid of wilma and am trying a new soil because I've read good things about it. I decided to start growing again May 1st and popped 5 seeds which got stunted... 2 have survived and just gone into flower. I have since sorted out environment and decided to try something new.... based on trawling loads of threads and I'm glad I did. The 2 new girls that sprouted 10 days ago are in 15 litre airports are thriving... pics attched show them at 10 days old today from sprouting.

Now I just need to decide when to top?

Any medium can be problematic...usually from " pushing the rope" which comes with impatience. Being very conservative with nutes at all stages of growth, I personally seldom notice any precharge dissipation of BBLM.
In 15 yrs, I've gone through so many mediums with BBLM being my go to the past 10....
