OK. It's actually my 4th grow but the first in my DIY growbox.
I have a larger grow space (still small - 4 autos max) in a partially insulated attic area. It's a great place to grow but will be unusable during the hot summer months. It gets really hot here and I have no way to cool the space which will easily exceed 100 degrees F most days during the summer. That's why I built the growbox. It is small and I intend to use it to grow two plants simultaneously just to be sure I don't run out during the hot summer months.:smoking:
I built the box during the Fall (https://www.autoflower.org/threads/first-grow-northern-lights-indica-auot-fem.55673/#post-1234299) and immediately had issues with temps too high within the interior and an insufficient air exchange. While sorting out those issues, I successfully grew out four heirloom tomato plants in the box. Over this last weekend, I cleaned out the box and planted one Fastbuds West Coast OG in a 5 gallon equivalent air pot. It popped above ground yesterday.
I used my custom fast-draining, coco based soil mix and I stepped away from using nursery pots. This is my first attempt at growing in an air pot. I'll continue to use chemical ferts during this grow as I've had good success with them during my first two grows. If I make it through a successful grow in the box, I'm going to repeat the grow again with organic ferts and see for myself if there is truly a difference in quality/yield.
I'm using a Viparspectra 300 and will add supplemental lighting as needed.
