New Grower Dinafem White Widow Auto - Soil/270w LED

Hey Liquid! Thanks for stopping in !

I got a few items from Gotham in the past, never had a problem at all. Don't have anything bad to say about them. Got my tent and other little things there. Many people here have had good times dealing with them.

I guess I look at it like - whether I deal direct with a Chinese manufacturer or Gotham, there is going to be a down time if there is an issue with the light. Could My LED panel fry out in a month? Sure it could. Probably not. If I have an issue, I can send a description of the problem, pics or video , and they will send me anything needed , parts wide for 3 years. I'm sure I would have to come up with a backup plan until I get the parts I suppose. This guy sent me pics of the unit complete, taken apart, photos of all the parts inside, what it looks like when they assemble. Pretty neat.

I was soooo close to pulling the trigger on the Advanced LED sight. Please don't get me wrong, their lights are probably badass- I just couldn't spend the $$$ And I stopped myself and just did a little bit of reading on the spectrums, I admit I took a chance dealing with overseas direct from China. The salesman wasn't pushy at all , was extremely knowledgeable and got me exactly what I was looking for. Keen Feng is the salesmans name there, see if you can get ahold of him. As for your question about the 4G series and the cases - What they have done is basically made the modular design easier to work on, updated the look of the cases and what not. I haven't been over there recently to look - They may now offer 5w setups. Remember though a 270w rated light isn't getting you a true 270w. Not happening. IMO, any reputable company will be up front and honest with you about this matter (mine was) , I was told for what I am trying to do, 1 will suffice, 2 would be ideal. Im going to be honest with you here - I grabbed the wavelengths from LED PRO GROW site, and decided on 90 degree lenses. I know you are reading and you are probably right, My light will not be as awesome as a Pro Grow I bet, but I cant personally spend what they want. And after seeing my results, I am def happy with my purchase. I wound up spending I think 270 shipped. DHL came FAST! Packaged amazing, it was packaged like it was going to be dropped from an airplane! There were a lot of companies that were shady that just want your quick buck- I kid you not brother, I spoke with about 10-15 before deciding on Luyizhi. I did not want to pay a middle man here an outrageous percentage.

In a way I feel like - I really wish that Our American people could use American parts, assembled and sold by us here and make it affordable for us. It could be possible that my manufacturer is not using the same caliber LEDS that USA built guys are, I don't know. I don't know a whole lot about it, honestly. California Light Works are doing amazing things right here in the USA! I wanted to go their route, and didn't have the $$$ together then. Hindsight I could have saved up and supported their outfit, kind of wish I did to be honest. put the money here in our hands. Look at Ford and Chevy. There are so many parts on your Dodge that are made outside the US for money reasons. Your car costs a lot of money partly in fact of Unions. What it costs to PAY the worker assembling it. China will do it WAY cheaper. The bottom line, that's what Big US companies are about (most not all). At the time I wanted to try this out under $300 bucks. Still having to get a fan filter, food and soil etc...

I know I rambled, please forgive me, the sight I give you has a standard layout - the ratio of led's per module. You can ask them for different ratios. The ratios are given per module , as an example, my light has 6 modules. 15 LEDs per module - so you can make up whatever ratio you would like - like... 7:3:3:1:1 (again this is just as an example - you can see my ratio early in the thread) I don't think casing design or colors mean anything about the configuration. Almost all of the Chinese LED manufacturers use a majority of red. There are a couple types of red LED, and a couple types of blue, if I remember correctly. I personally wanted short internode growth and a lot of leaf production, I asked to have more blue put into it. I think my buds may be fatter at this point with more red, but again for my purposes I am thrilled.

My unit can be found here along with Keens contact info:

Good luck, and if you want to ask me anything feel free I will certainly try to help you the best I can brother!

Briar

PS - there are hundreds of these Chinese manufacturers all claiming to make "Blackstar" lights. I don't know who the exact supplier is, maybe there are multiple that the Blackstar sight uses. I looked into CIDLY as well, others have had good luck with them. I personally mailed *3* times and no response. Didn't want to go that route. My salesman stays in touch _every_ week since date of purchase. When you buy something, its not always about the sale, but the service afterwards. He checks in and sees how I am liking it, and gives me newsletters about new stuff. Good Outfit IMO

Looks amazing my friend. I'm in the same quandry as you. I'm tempted to harvest one earlyish (most cloudy), one middleish (half anf half), and one as long as possible (as muchamber as possible) just to experience the differences. I like my narcotic high though. But an energetic high for the day might be nice.

Thanks for the great info brov. No your suppose to ramble on a Forum thats what there for. I asked and you for sure answered every question i had.

Well Personally i don't mind starting with a Chinese or Japanese Brand LED Grow light. The thing good about more people buying from them it make the other companies(US) make a far better products and a lower price but it takes longer to break the back of the American Working Class. LOL. I bet there Union members HAHAHA.

I've looked into the Advanced, Area51's and BS's. I was looking at there prices on there AliExpress Page and really there prices based on this page really are something i can handle and i did also notice the 3 year Warranty was one think i was interested in. How easy it was to get a hold of them and if they honor the Warranty and all that Jazz. If you give them :gthumb: I think i could trust them. I mean your doing some work with them so it can't be that bad. That's so cool he send you "exploded" and dis/re assembly images. I like that kinda stuff. That means i can take it to a electrical engineer or a repair place with the new parts and such. But im sure i can do it myself in time. But 3 years is a good time for the Warranty that a lot of NUG with Autos. Plus they say on there site is its pre-tested before its sent. Lots of info is good. I like that. BS doesn't really give you all that and the Warranty isn't that nice. You have sold me brov. I will get one ASAP ^_^. Just have to make the cream now. I think i will go with the ratio you have since your going based on the Advanced ratio's. I'm also going to get a HO CFL setup too when i get the LED as a quick backup and maybe use them both who knows :firedevil:. there affordable and its always in the Hydro shops and online. Likely going to get these two...

-Sun System White Wing

-Feliz 300w Dual Spectrum Fluorescent

I'm likely in time going to use a DWC or a Aero setup I made as a Tinker project with some friends. But the Aero deal looks so sweet I'm just dying to use it with a pH Perfect setup :D.

Well i guess that its see I'm going on and on too. Thanks so so much for the info brov. Look forward to your future posts.

Okay I also wanted to throw in the actual wavelength ratio for the Light in case anyone wanted to know. I did not want the standard wavelength they offered with them. For about 15 USD extra they made it custom. Like I said they were really awesome about the whole thing - and the gentlemen Keen Feng spoke just as good English as the American Customers I work with each day at work.

There are 15 LEDs in each module. This lamp is a 6 module. In each module it contains:

740nm 1 led
660nm 3 leds
640nm 6 leds
470nm 2 leds
440nm 2 leds
525nm 1 leds

As you can see it is a tad more blue than what they offered ready to go. Most ratios were almost no blue I was finding out. I did notice though the internode distance is very very short on both my grows. I am wondering if both blues had something to do with this?

Was this what you were talking about?

Yes sir, that is the ratio, per module that I requested. Keen directed me to the Ali Express site to make the purchase there. It was pretty easy to do - Once I got my configuration and lamp size selected, he drew up the invoice, gave me the price, and had me ring it out through the Ali Express site. He asked I put that wavelength combination in with a message upon purchasing and reference his name. He kept me posted as it was being built, and when it shipped.

I got the wavelength base ratio from pro grow LED's site. It was when I was first learning about leds and why plants respond to them. I def believe they are the future.

As for he warranty you asked about , I have yet to use it. The only question I sent him was about one of the LED lights per module- There is one led per module (in my ratio I selected) that includes UV. It is a very very small amount and it appears to be "burnt" out - I asked him about this and said it is normal, and that when they use UV and IR it will not appear as "bright" as the other LEDs because only a small amount is needed. These guys I got from will mail you parts, and if you can use a Phillips #2 screwdriver, you can do the repairs. The company I bought from DO have updated styles, but I believe they are using the same LEDS, the only thing they have changed is they made it easier to replace stuff and work on them. I have yet to do that, and been through 6-8 months of 20 hours a day usage. One thing I will do after this grow is take the back panel off, and use a blow gun at work to clean out the dust in between the fins on the heat sink, the sink itself looks like a large radiator with fins. I can see dust buildup which can probably lead to excess wear. This is something I will do after this grow is done (probably 2-3 weeks)

In my tent, the one does OK- I do have to occasionally rotate the plants so all the budsites will get that "core" coverage. A couple other manufacturers I was very close to purchase from was ESHINE SYSTEMS, BYSEN LED, and LED STAR. All of those had fantastic communication that was clear and concise. It was a tossup really. I have a feeling that most of these manufacturers are sourcing their blue and reds from the same supplier, they just have different levels of quality during assembly. It is just kind of a gamble on picking the right manufacturer as we are across the pond here in the USA.

If you go on Ali Express, you can see customers feedback, very similar to the way EBAY does theirs.

I had no luck getting ahold of CIDLY- Like I said I sent 3 emails over the course of 2 weeks with no response. That kind of bothered me a little. But if you look at the blackstar site, and check out cidly led - my hunch is that that could be the supplier or manufacturer? I could be wrong here.... Cidly and many others are now incorporating 5 watt LEDs, the CREE style. I haven't read much into them. Just take your time, read about what those wavelengths do - I wish you the best, I originally started with a 2ft T5 light, and wasn't too impressed, I think it was more of a seed starter. When I received the LED in the mail and turned it on my old grow (auto skunk mass, advanced seeds) - they exploded with growth quickly.

I kept using the 2ft T5 during flowering as side lighting in the closet (before I had a tent/filter/fan) The T5 I bought came with 6500k lamps and I bought 4 2700k HTG Supply. I currently am not using the T5 as in the tent it would be ultra cramped!

Im toasted, drinking my coffee and being a rambling man, I hope I helped ya Brother

I think it will be worth it to hold out as long as you can. And remember, they look HUGE in flower, but when chopped they shrink down a little bit and lose weight so account for that. You got yourself a scope right? I liked the High I got on last chop chop when I had about 15-20 percent amber. I think that's what Im going to go for, I like that whole body warm type glowing high. It helps with my bum back and it also helps me relax after my day at work !

Okay I was just poking around the tent - I think tonight I may take down the LED light, take the back panel off and blow it out (using compressed air and one of my blow guns at work). I was going to wait to do it but I see mega dust buildup inside the unit. Enough to bother me. If and when I do this, I am going to take pics of it before and after....

hey briar! i wanted to buy a 2ft 4 t5 panel(veg&flower t5) for the small grow tent i am buying soon. is it worth it or should i keep growing with cfl's? have you tried to flower under your t5?

I did bring the light to work tonight and blew out the inside of it, including the fans, wires , vents, power supplies.

removed the back cover (6 screws, Phillips # 2)

Unplugged the 4 wire connectors to the power supplies, and lifted the back panel up

Used my blow gun and lightly blew it all out, the fans were quite dusty and had some buildup. Also A lot of dust on the heatsink itself.

Only problem was, I forgot my camera at home, sorry Brothers and Sisters, If I open it up again I will show ya.

Just stopping in and sayin hello!

Hey sofa, just letting you know I responded to your question right on your thread there, Peace Brother!
