Dinafem Dinafem Quick Kush & Quick Critical

Nice looking ladies. Did you notice faster growth in veg compared to regular photos? Have you noticed any other differences?

Thank you :toke:

My observations on the Quick Kush were that I could not keep up with the time frame I had in my head. I should have transplanted it to the big bucket faster but the tent was tied up. She took over the bubbler and nothing slowed her. No stress from transplant, no nutrient burn nor signs of deficiency. The Quick Critical grew much slower, (about average for what I've seen) up until about day 30 when she took off and grew so fast that she caught up to the QK in about a week. I was pretty shocked at how fast she was. I had to move a plant close to harvest to another tent, which I vowed I was not going to do as I had a spectacular series of massive issues from a previous foray into plant relocation :face:
Anyway, no harm no foul but I had to get the QC moved way faster than anticipated. (Better stated, any other plant I would have figured I had a week or more, this one was a matter of a day or two and it was NOW).

I still have some seeds left of both these strains, and I have set up my cloner to take clones. I will be running these again hoping to either have room to put them in the bigger buckets sooner, or knowing the timeline is much shorter to anticipate a fast veg.

I want to see from clone to harvest how fast I pull off a run. I've never done SOG but could you imagine, maybe a 2 week veg from when the clones root and BOOM flower out? I was just chatting about aeroponics in the staff thread and I have a 6 site aero reservoir. Hmmmmmm :fire:

I'm digging these quick strains, and to be honest I don't know if I would ever have tried them if not for the sponsorship. I'm kinda an old school grower in that I love my photos, so for that, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" applies to that even tho I've embraced every other new technology that has come around. (think LED, the conversations about those 10 years ago)!. I don't even know how my buddy got me to try autos :crying:
So here we are, and now I'm really anticipating what the flower phase of growth will bring :pop:

Crap, did that long winded reply answer your questions? :nono:

Thanks for the break down Rivetgrrl. I can't wait to see them mature and how the final product ends up. So you weren't blown away by the autos? I got some more cannaventure gear in veg. I think my auto days are over. Keep on growing sister

Gotta try Cannaventure sometime. But dear god, my list of "must grows" :crying:

I need to grow out more strains still, from different breeders, to see how I feel about autos in the end. The Meph run was my first auto grow, and I had a few issues. I grew out Sweet Seeds after that, and because of my hospital "vacation" that plant got messed up too. I am running Seedstocker Sticky Fingers right now and so far it's a very nice looking plant, small but should put on the weight.

But my heart is with photos, and the control that I have in growing them. The challenge of training and timing. But there is room in my veg tent for autos, and I am having fun with them.

I will be doing the solo cup challenge so I am looking forward to Dinafem's auto Cookies. I really want to run Mandalorean's Anvil and Jem. I have some seeds from an independent breeder, Highrise, and a male plant from the same that I got from a friend.

I am going to get into breeding at a hobby level and see where it goes; with my health up and down I want to use my education and background to achieve something, and I always intended to learn more about it/get into it "at some point". So that is another adventure that will be fun and full of the attainment of new knowledge, and hey I'm not getting any younger :smoking:

Day 21 of flower for Quick Kush, day 18 for Quick Critical. Gals are well into flower, and well, quick! Critical is a stinky girl, can't place the smell but I noticed upon defoliating some time ago that her aroma is compelling.
Interesting to note, they are flowering aggressive and fast, yet they are great for not showing any deficiencies or other issues. Both are getting the same nutrients as all my plants (I'm still tweaking things so I'll post up more when it is more dialed in). No stress issues either, topped, trained, transplanted.
These are almost "set it and forget it" strains, they just want to grow. This tent has been the easiest to keep the environment better in so that helps as well. My relative humidity could be higher, but for now the lights, temp and humidity are decent enough that the plants are showing leaf rise. Some say it is bad, some say good. I always think it is a good sign and the plants are happy.
What, less talk more pictures? OK :smoking:

Check out her leaves, they are very unique! Saw blade? Sharks teeth? Fern? You decide, but I love them:smoking:

Here's the next phase, look at these roots! Usual 7 days to start rooting, but these are some aggressive roots. Entire stem is covered in them. Once rooted they will undergo a short veg and be grown in an aeroponics SOG. I am thinking I'll do three of each as the unit is good for six plants. See which one does better as "mini-trees", but either one should perform well. It will be my first SOG and I expect these strains will work well.

Your girls look great Rivetgrrl. They do seem to be flowering super fast. How long was they vegged again??. They sure do look healthy. I can't wait to see the finished product. What does the breeder say their flowering time is?

Thanks
Kush was vegged 40 days, Critical was 42. I could have flipped Kush at 30 days but needed space to free up. Next run of seeds I want to get the seedling into the bucket way earlier as I think it would be the same size at day 30 as this was at 40.

Critical was much slower to get big at first, but took off like a rocket after the 30 day mark. Once again, earlier transplant to final container makes me curious about that too.

Kush is 50-55 days after flip, Critical is about 49. In DWC I expect to add another week but I think if I can veg way shorter by anticipating the variables, I could go from seed to harvest in about 79 days for the Critical. From clone to harvest significantly faster.

Now we're talking :pass:

Those buds are exploding and filling out like a fat kid in a candy store

Nice to see the next generation are rooted in a very fast time :pass:

I could go from seed to harvest in about 79 days for the Critical. From clone to harvest significantly faster.

Even with a 30 day veg and 49 day bloom stage you can easily do that mate, with clones you could know an other 10% of so around 70 day's rooted to harvest :pass:

Can't wait watch this one

All the best :bong:

Mark..

Some bad news I hate to report, my battle gal turned hermie and I had to chop her. That was a very sad evening as she was doing fantastic.

I had a chat with some folks on HOTT trying to pinpoint the issue, could be I was too heavy handed with her. I’m gonna pop the rest of the Quick Kush seeds soon and try again. In the meantime Critical is doing great! The empty space now has another Quick Critical that is in an AutoPot, I’ll get some pics of her up.

I also have four of her in my bubbler I just converted to aeroponics. I plan to flip these soon and see what they do in this set up.
