Indoor Diesel Ryder x White Dwarf F2 to F3 micro breeding.

I crossed a Diesel Ryder female with a White Dwarf male a couple of years ago to get some seeds. I recently grew these out in the to get myself some F2's, and this is what I got.

As Summer is on the way in the UK I put a few of the seeds into sprout straight away. This isn't my usual practice, but I had seeds spare so decided why not.


Week 1

20 hours 52w daylight bulb

Week 2

Week 2.5

Two of the three plants have now shown themselves to be male, and we have one female. The female has been potted into a slightly bigger pot, and put outside into my cold frame. The males are still inside my little cab with a 52w daylight bulb. I'll wait till they show themselves better & select one of them as a male if they look decent enough.

I've just popped another seven seeds today to keep the ball rolling in the search for decent plants. Further updates in a few days.

Can you get the 52w bulbs in the shops or do you have to order them? I can only get up to 33w here and anything more has to be ordered from -you guessed it- the UK, unless you go for big bulbs like 125w and up.. we got them in our grow shops.

Cheers Noods, it was a very tasty smoke. I got the bulb from fleabay in the UK, but thought homedepot and the like in the US did them. I'd also look at SAD bulbs, as they're pretty the same thing. Otherwise you're going to have to hook a few of the bulbs up in a line (parallel it might be called). I thought about going this route at first, but I had other equipment to hand & I'm a bit DIY retarded.

Week 3.

The first of the two males has started dropping pollen, which I'm currently collecting. I have the plant on a windowsill, with some paper below it. Once I've got enough pollen for breeding I'll be putting this plant outside, to see how it goes. Then the next male will be put on the sill for pollen collection, and the circuit will continue. The best acting male over the next few I get will be the future Daddy.

This is the first female plant, only days after sexing. This is now out in the cold frame, and will be joined by a few others soon. I have three more plants just recently broken ground, so next update soon.

Week 3+

I was collecting some pollen earlier while stoned, and snapped the head off the male. :no: Still, not too worry. I cut the break at an angle, and placed it in a glass of water. Then it was back onto the window. The cut will do for a couple of days, and then replace the water. If it starts to wilt, then cut a little more stem at an angle again & it'll be good for another few days.

I've seen that done before with finishing the male in water and it worked fine. It didn't show any deficiencies for a week and he collected pollen. Keep it up man. I am a future micro breeder myself.
