Dialing In MEGA CROP for Auto's

Hi guys, great thread ive skimmed through most of it. Ive recently switched to using MC and have noticed a deficiency on one of my seedlings.

Its gelato auto by fastbuds, grown in 100% coco under 6 bridgelux eb strips ran at 95w, broke surface on the 23/10. Its on the same feeding as another gelato and 2 zkittlez by fb. Last feed was as per the instructions on the bag. No added supplements only MC. Ph roughly 6.0 no idea to accurately tell my ph pen is on the fritz but i know from previous use how much ph down is roughly enough. Any ideas whats going on with it?

When you run PH that low, you really need an accurate PH meter. You also want to invest in a EC or PPM meter. Keeping your solution in the range of 500-575ppm. A deficiency in a plant that young means you have nutrient lockout, usually cause by PH being too high or too low. Are you in coco or soil? If your in soil, your PH is way too low. You want 6.4 to 6.5 in soil, 6.1 to 6.3 in coco. People often run coco at lower ph, in the 5.6 to 5.8 range. But your much more likely to have issue running that low as if it dips below 5.6, there are detrimental fungi that thrive in low ph conditions.
ppm meters, ( TDS meter ) are cheap however. I've had mine for 6 year, a Hanna TDS-3 I paid $22 for.

Cheers man, i cant remember of the top of my head, think it was something like 1.5g/ us gal

It's better to follow their calculator, and to be on the safe side, just a bit less than what they say, which seems to be what you did. Some people use it fullstrength from the beginning, though. Might be a pH problem. My coco in a slurry test has a pH belowe 5.7 so feeding at 6.0 is problematic.... i gotta stay above 6.1, maybe this could be your problem or just too weak nutes.

Im running 100% coco. I have a tds meter ill take readings the next feed in a day or so. I may get a new ph pen, my last 2 were 15euro from amazon and both broke the same way, after a grow or 2 they stop returning to a stable 0.00 and when taking readings the read stays slowly dropping.

Cheers man, ill check that out tomorrow and see how different it is to the bag.

...

I went through more than 10 cheap pH pens... got an Apera ph60 now and don't regret how much more it cost at all... should've done it from the beginning. Invest in a good ph meter if you are going to stick to coco, and even for soil to avoid headaches.

Yeah i seen that ph meter when i first moved from soil to hempys a few years ago, i cant justify spend that cash on something ill probably break.

Many problems begin and END with improper ph.
I have a bluelab and don't regret getting it.
The calibration still needs to be done regularly.

I agree the cheap ones go bad way to fast. I’ve never used the Apera, but like that it’s waterproof and has a replaceable probe. I use the Hanna pH Tester Checker® Plus - HI98100 and have had great luck with it. For $20 I replace the probe every year, even if it doesn’t need it.
