Thrips are a total bastard mate. They lay eggs on the leaves, hatch, suck the leaves then drop off into the soil where they turn into flying adults, and the cycle repeats. (I'm sure you know this already tho)
I've heard of people putting a layer of sand on top of the mud, this is supposed to stop them getting in and out of the soil.
Probably a bit late for this comment tho.. [emoji52]
Bugs. I fookin hate 'em!
Have you considered growing indoors? Or even hydro?

Sure have. Ive been using the mosquito dunks to try and get rid of the eggs in the soil, although the last time i was at the grow shop the woman laughed at me when i asked about eggs in the soil, she said no way which goes against everything ive read online. I keep meaning to get some sand but not sure where to get just a small quantity..apart from the beach
You could use beach sand if you wash it really well.. Couldn't you nick a bucket from a nearby building site?
Everywhere has building sites!

Forgot to ask, do you know if the thrips live in the buds ? I'm a week away from harvest. I've read online and some people say yes and others no...
