That was certainly my understanding about coco. I'm on the final flush and still ph water to 6.2ish, maybe I shouldn't bother

Sorry OP, for jumping all over your thread I'm also apologize to the rest of you if I came off a little strong. I know better than that, because written words often come off a the little harsher than they're meant to be.
Not harsh dude just sharing info you do it your way I do it mine as long as they work no harm done [emoji106]

Sounds like a good exchange of views jingo

Your plant is going to deplete the nutrients from the Coco rapidly whether you pH or not. That's all you really want. After that you simply start using up the nutrients in the leaves. With my line of nutrients I can flush out the Coco in 3 days. I know if I try and short that a little with plain water I can get a taste difference. To be fair, the pH of my water that I flush with is 6.4. But, I wouldn't have an issue flushing with ph 8.0 water. Because all I really want before Harvest is to deplete the nutrients in the Coco.

Thanks bro and I definitely don't have any hard feelings either. I just don't want to come on a forum as a newly active person and start stomping all over other people.

Hey man, definitely don't mind you guys discussing here in my journal. That's what I'm looking for is input from the more experienced growers. I believe the issue I had was adding my nutes at half strength and not a quarter. Also my buddy who owns the local hydro shop agrees that the PH is a non issue. I just got nute happy too early. I think as long as I run my water through at 5.8 with the correct nutes we should get a good grow. While I was at the store this morning I also grabbed some perlite and a block of non branded coco that he has at the store. He said it works better than any of the other brands which he doesn't carry anymore. I'll check it out and do a side by side comparison. He sells it in a 3cft block I think for 10.99. That's a lot cheaper than the Cocotek was.
Jingo I went with your pre charge idea this morning on the GSC and will do the same with the Pineapple Express. Precharging the Coco with quarter strength nutes and calmag and then just let it be until they get established. We will see how well it works and I'll keep you guys updated.

I think you're going to like the pre-charge specially if you get good run off. It's my belief if you sew your seed directly into the coco the tap root will be at the bottom of your pot within 3 days. And I actually start feeding to run off at about 3 days. Whenever I try and be cheap and just pour a little bit and nutrients and water and around the seedling I end up burning it. But, I run a lot hotter nutes early on than a lot of guys do and I'm safe as long as I keep my runoff up.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's what happened the first time. I was trying to measure out how much water I was putting around the seedling in a circle. Seems like giving it water and nutes for the first 3-4 days and leaving it alone will be the best idea. Keep it simple stupid! Lol it's hard not to hover in the tent every 15 minutes though.

Heh

I totally get what you're talking about there. It took me a couple years to figure out that I was the biggest pest in my grow room. Followed by my dog. Staying the hell out of there in the summertime has really proved the smart choice for me.

It's been a few days since my last update on the girls. DD [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] recovered from the nute burn and didn't appear to slow at all. She is screaming past DD [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] who now has some rust spots, Calmag I think. DD [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] is working on throwing out her 4th set of leaves while DD [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] is still on her third. The Fastbuds GSC is working on her first set of leaves and also appears to have some type of deficiency. Her pot was charged with 1/4 strength base nutes and Calmag and left alone for the first few days so not sure what her issue is... Pineapple Express has just broken soil and trying to roll out her cots this morning. She was also charged up with 1/4 strength base nutes and calmag however her medium is 50/50 coco and perlite, not 100% coco like the other 3. We shall see where she goes from here!

And now some glamour shots

DD [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] a few days ago. Like day 7 maybe
