We used to be able to catch 300 cohos in a day (that's when fishing is really good mind you) but now in our old age we start to bog down after 150...it helps if they don't come all at once lol

Now that is some incoming meat!! Are you guys able to do any standard icefishing in the winter?

No, a warm current offshore keeps things pretty mild, ice usually doesn't get too thick here.

we pulled. Well my pops pulled a state record flat out here.
Unfortunately no scale and we like the fish to live unless we eating.
So we let the flats swim. Just love chasing them
10 lb test rod n reel. Shakespear tiger combos. All we use lol.

But seen a few giants. One im confident. Was in the 80s range.
Just a pig with fins. And a mouth that could fit a basketball.
No teeth tho. Lmao jkjk knee i kid. Hard time.

I believe it for sure man....Ive seen some pike around here....and i dont mean 10-15 pounders which i have caught multiple, but i mean wayyyyyyyy over 20 pounds. Ive had they monsters follow in my lures many times, but they are smart, they never take it!! I know i have seen pike in the 30lb+class, not to mention the giant muskies(which this area is famous for, but i cant catch them....lol)

Darn!! I relish the idea of salmon through the ice on a rod and reel....there is guys that do it not too far from here, and large lake run rainbows as well, but the ice is ummmm.....scary!! Screw that

man. There was 1 juraasic mf. 1 night. Real late. It gave me the shakes it was so big.
Had a huge hit. Got right off. Reeled up to recast.
And like a mini sub comes slow tailing following the bait.
Gave me the shakes 4 real. That was a fish of the ages. Big big flat. Took my breath for a moment. And all i seen was shape and shadow from lanturn. Til he turned and his tail came up.

I want to go fishing now

Fucking right man....I am wayyyy overdue for some downtime. Ice is so close to being ready around here!! Kick the season in the multispecies spot described to start(seeking crappie) I bet there is already guys out there slaying some crappie!

Yea, you'll notice rain is a recurring theme in my posts and pics lol. Also not a lot of sizable lakes. The karst limestone takes the tremendous rainfall and hides it underground.

Never been before, on my bucket list for sure. Also deep sea fishing is on there too. I had plenty of opportunities to do this one, but at the time parting seemed way better. Another life lesson learned.
