walleye, pike, musky, smallmouth + largemouth bass(smaller than those in the south for sure, but lots of respectable 5 pounders), lake trout, brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, black crappie(smaller than in the south for sure), perch fishing is exceptional in the right spots.
Sounds like heaven on earth

Yeah i love it....i keep a few fish of species i enjoy, but i dont go crazy for the meat...its more about getting out with a buddy for the day and hanging out and toking a few, and having some fun catching some fish....if we get preferred species(walleye an hour before we leave we'll take a couple of fish home to eat)...but damn we would even care if all we could catch is a buzz(icefishing can be slow sometimes for sure!!)

I have a picture of a black crappie I caught on one of my old phones that was 3" longer than a 2 liter mountain dew bottle. I need to get it off there and saved somewhere so I don't lose it

Id love to go ice fishing sometime... Never gonna have the chance anywhere near here that's for sure lol... How thick can that ice get?

Very thick....ive almost seen the power auger tap out at my buddies cabin up north. Its was 4" from the motor when we hit water and the auger is 40" in length!! So 36" is about the most i see. Usually its a foot or so thick in most places close to me. I go out on 6", and the crazy pricks go out on 3"

Wow!! Yeah....now thats a crappie!!! That what i am talking about!! They dont get big like that up here for sure! If we get a 16 incher we are super psyched!

They're incredibly strong that's for sure... Having 2 or 3 hooked close together on a trotline makes for a challenge. The really big ones have individual scales the size of the bottom of a beer can. Damn swimming t-rex

2 or 3!! Jeez.....my busted up neck hurts at just the thought of that!

HIghlights are walleye fishing....in a week long trip we usually boat 30 fish a day in our boat....and on the hot days(usually 2-3 days out of the week trip) we'll catch 70+ between my buddy and myself...lots of small ones but the occasional 4-8 pounder(20-28"). Pretty damn awesome indeed!!
It really is heaven for a fisherman!! I feel blessed to be able to live here.

My favorite though has to be my favorite, though you have to like forest and lots of hiking though some rough country...picture this...we drive for 30 minutes and I say pull over and park right here bud! No river around...we walk a half mile and come to the river which is fast flowing around 2-3 feet in depths and crystal clear only 15-20 foot in width, which flows over basketball sized rocks...after walking through some trees the river splits and small pebble pools are formed and in some areas beaver dams "Oh hey!! Shhh right there bud!! DO you see it? Right there!!" as i point directly toward a nice 6 pound rainbow. Now all we have to do is stealth creep up to about 20 feet ahead of the fish and get the proper cast to swing and hang the mepps [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG] spinner in the current so it sweeps in front of the rainbow trout, and it charges like a bulldog in full view. Intense and just incredible!!
Walk a few miles through some rough bush on that river and you come to this amazing waterfall.
