Grow Mediums Cat tries the 1st Northern Lights grow in coco

Don't be silly bro us Scots always doubting lol the nodes are very close on her she'll be covered in bud I guarantee it can u not take pics on ure phone upload them to ure PC via USB boom done
I broke my windows 8 phone a couple of weeks ago. Been so caught up with buying tent equipment, there's been little spare cash for anything else.... a new camera needs to be next.

Some plants have little bit purple stems but then it can also be the start of p deficiency in coco phosphorus uptake at ph 5.8 also do u water to runoff if not next feed flush with ph 5.8 water only incase of salt building up and causing lockout
I was reading last night about the purple stems and it looks like it's nothing to worry about. Judging by the oldest bottom leaves, there might have been a lack of P earlier in plants life, but I do water to run off and test the TDS and Ph each time. I might give her a flush with low nutes over the weekend just in case. Thanks Bailey

Ok so what ive read about P def and lockout is if the reddish starts at the underside of the stem its P related... but purple strains will start off with purplish on the top side...... now remember there isnt always the change in stem color tho....

I need to do a little more reading on P def and lockout, you mentioned this once before. I do test the run off and Ph going in is 5.8/out 6.0. The TDS is usually a little higher coming out than going in, around 300-400us/cm. As far as I can work out, staying within a 200-300us/cm range of nutes coming out is preferable. I have increased the bloom nutes lately and today I notice the purple stem is slowly turning green, from the main stem outwards. Maybe she wasn't being fed enough. It's difficult to work out exactly how much I should feed coz my tap water is a high EC, so following nute advice is difficult. I'm keeping a note of the nute schedule and will hopefully crack it on my second grow. Many thanks for your advice, appreciated

Okay, so I’m feeling a little discouraged about keeping a journal because my PC cam is totally crap and doesn’t do my babies any justice. I’ll try to buy a new one next week

My smallest plant, “little miss bushy” is now 53days old and 12” tall with lots of little bud sites. I doubt she’ll yield much, but the learning curve has been positive.

The second seed is now 40days old and over 2ft tall… and still growing. A couple of weeks ago, I tied down 10 side branches. Each branch has at least 3 bud sites. I dunno if I can fatten those buds up.

The only two things I’m unsure of is the feeding schedule and why she has some purple stems. It’s not the main stem, but leafs. Per gallon of water, I feed 4ml calmag and 3.5ml Floranova bloom. I think my TDS is as high as it can go, but I'm still confused about that. Here’s a couple of pics

Hey brother, u will be amazed how those buds will start stacking over the next few weeks. You have a lot of bud sights so dont be diacouraged. For your first grow, anything is better than nothing.

You cant expect to cook a perfect meal while taking your first cooking lesson. Thats what this is , a practice run. Look how far you've come!

As far as pics, pic up a $5 camera of ebay. They are prevelant. Then upgrade it when time allows.

Great work so far!

I'm constantly on high alert for any problems, but I've been really lucky so far (ummm maybe I shouldn't speak too soon!). I'm looking forward to harvest, it'll be a relief to get it over with and start a new grow. Cheers, appreciate your input

Looking good buddy! Good job! Don't sweat about some purple stems or whatnot, they happen and usually it is just a normal thing that some genetics do. If you have purple stems and the leaves starts getting dark areas then you should suspect P def or lockout. Good luck.
