Grow Mediums Cat tries the 1st Northern Lights grow in coco

I have been testing the run off, but not sure if I do it right. I simply test what comes out. Ph going in is 5.8/out 6.3. I flushed each plant yesterday with a gallon of water each (in coco) with nutes and ph 5.8, but it still came out 6.3. I wasn't sure if that should be a concern. I need to do a little more reading. The younger plant definately needs more calmag
are you testing the first little bit that comes out from your run off? thats what ya gotta do if your not already, get the first water tht comes out as its more accurate... if you plan on staying in this hobby for a cpl grows i would HIGHLY suggest an Accurate 8 soil probe.. it comes HIGHLY recommended by the staff and experianced growers here at AFN... i couldnt imagine growing without it anymore.. it hase saved both my grows so far and is WELL worth the $60( i know its a little much but trust me, buy the right one the first time i went through 2 cheap-o's in a cpl days before buying this one) just keep an eye on the purple stems and the serrations on the leaves for the P def or lockout.. heres a pic from my bubba's P lockout

Yer, the Accurate 8 is on the shopping list. I've also learned a couple of lessons about buying cheap rubbish. Good you should point that out about testing run off because I was testing the second lot of water to come out the pot. If my Ph is 5.8 going in and 6.3 coming out, is that a problem?

lets see if @Bromeo could shed some light on this because i dont wanna give you the wrong info but i think it should be fine but a runoff closer to your feed is obviously preferred. bromeo is my go to coco guy when i have a problem or question:d5:

Not a problem yet. Coco stores something that drops ph over time. I water at the 6.1 to 6.4 range.

Thanks fuggzy, appreciate your help. Yesterday my indoors humidity was 70%. We've had a lot of rain here and the heat makes it worse. Usually my tent sits at 50-60% and I'm relieved to hear that good air circulation helps prevent mold etc. The ext fan I'm waiting on is only a cheap one, but it is twice as powerful as the one I have. I didn't want to spend much more until I convert my cupboard. What I do notice is the humidity rising by 10-15% as soon as the lights go out... not sure what that's about. Anyway, thanks again fuggzy, people like you make the first grow a lot less stressful:pass:

Hi Cat, just hazarding a guess, but a humidity drop after lights out is probably down to the temperature drop as a result of lights out (assuming the light is generating heat)
the humidity we are referring to when we refer to humidity is relative humidity and the relative humidity of the air in your grow space will rise as the temperature drops, because colder air has less capacity to contain moisture.

My new fan arrived on Saturday, recommended by @Bailey . For the money (£26.99) this is an excellent fan. It comes with high/low setting @ 160m3/hr and the high at 220m3/hr. This seems ideal for my little tent 80 x 80 x 160cm. My last fan only extracted 100m3/hr and it sounded like the hoover was running permanently.

I mainly have the new fan on low setting and it maintains the environment @27F & around 55% humidity. The humidity where I live is very high in summer, so I doubt I could reduce that any more without a bigger dehumidifier. This is the one I just bought last week. It removes around 300ml moisture each day

I also bought some Molasses from the supermarket today, but I’m not sure if it’s the right one or how I’m supposed to use it. Any advice appreciated.
