lowcoast. Checked Rosenthal's book and it appears that the negative ions may neutralize odor molocules on the buds not protected by trichome membrane. The terpenes inside the membrane are unaffected. This info. is in regard to the buds in the last few weeks of flowering. By analogy we could relate it to the drying/curing process. He recommends that ionizers be placed outside the grow room during the last few weeks of flowering and not in direct contact with plants. I have seen your purifier model before--can you switch off the ionizer. Hope this gives you some info.

OK switched off ionizer, but have had it n the whole grow buds still smell pretty strong...just wondering why no one told me this before?...buds still smell pretty strong when i was trimming hope I did not mess anything up

No worry--lowcoast grower. When one reads Rosenthal's book, particularly, the ionizer he is referring more towards the hardwired/high tech in tent/grow room ionizers. I don't think many members use an ionizer besides the small portable plug in GT50's and the Honeywell type. Really, not a big deal. The only thing it could do is eliminate some of the aroma while drying. He does mention that it is very helpful for the plants to be in an area under ionization--he just recommends, placing it outside the grow area for better odor control--during the final two weeks of flowering--and conditions it on what I wrote in the comment above.

So what would you rec?????should I leave the ionizer off then....kind of seems like now there drying smell is not as strong...smelled dank last night now kind of earthy...is this normal...will have ucs up within the hour

Personally, I would turn it off during drying. Right, the cutting brings out great aromas and the drying may seem disappointing with odd hay, earthy or grassy odors = normal process.

CHOPPED AND TRIMMED.....

ok here they are two of them chopped and trimmed for the first time.....that is my drying closet keep it dark but to take pictures...temp is 75..rh is 50%,they have been drying for about two and a half days outside of buds feel really dry almost a lil crispy, when i bend stem it bends still no breask or crack, is it suppose to be this dry should i go ahead and put into jars?????smell was dank when trimming now kind of earthy like hay a lil...the other two i will probally chop on sunday ....i have a question though the smallest one that is still the greenest just looks weird smells like blueberries so dank nice crystals...but bud just looks kind of weird like a bunmch of calyxes on top of one another still with red hairs...buds kind of look like roses...i took some pics best i could....i dont see any balls on stick...think i woulda seen seeds by now.....god i hope this aint no hermie im so paranoid, for nothing im sure as i think others would of been pollenated as well...i know this is alot but i have come this far and just want to get it right!!!! :smokebuds:

Hows it look hows the first time trim?...thinking by using Thai b mans formula...thinking five days...RH is fifty percent guess the dry, buds on the outside is normal.got fan in closet but its low and n oscillate and doesn't blow directly on them, what do you guys think......:bong:

He has a great system one day for each 10% of RH and then add a day for good measure. Then the curing. Trimming and hanging all looks good LG. Be waiting for smoke report.

How bout them being so dry will they get soft again sticky when in jars and the curing begins?....or will they stay dry.

If you take a look at TBM's curing process he discusses the importance of RH. In the jar the buds will start releasing more moisture and you will burb the jars to release gases. The finished product will be like they say--nice and dank. Initial aroma will be grassy for awhile and then like wine begin to release its characteristic palate of taste and aroma.
