For a small area, an intake fan isn't really needed. The exhaust fan will pull air out of the tent, creating a little vacuum, or negative pressure. Air will be drawn in from any opening in the tent to fill that vacuum. In your case, that would be those flaps at the bottom. The fans you have are called duct boosters. They are designed to assist air movement in long runs of ducting. If you were using CFL, T5 or LED light that give off less heat, they would provide enough air flow. But with the heat from the HPS, you need to move more air. If you replace the exhaust fan with an in line one, and remove the intake fan, the exhaust fan will create that negative pressure in the tent and the air will be pulled in through the flap. If your temps were only spiking up over 85 occasionally it really wouldn't be an issue. But if it's getting up around 90 and staying there, it is. You are correct, your tent temp should be close to the room temp. The fact that there's a significant difference means you're not pulling enough air through the tent. This could become more of an issue in the summer if your room gets hotter. In the mean time, I would suggest removing the intake fan and just let the exhaust one pull air through the tent.
Regarding the leaf curl, are they curling up or down?
