Nutrients CannabisMingus' Grow Dots - Coco - Autopot experiment

I am no expert, but I have grown quite a few plants. I have read through some of the posts and it looks to me you are dealing with a K def. I think they started flowering before the dots added enough PK and they never caught up. When you run them again, try adding a flower booster when you see pistils start up. Continue adding a bit until the grow dots hit around day 30 when the PK should be releasing well enough.

Might help, might not. I have seen a few pretty good grows with grow dots and autos. One in particular adds flowerbooster starting week three and his plants look good. I have two beans (Night Owl/Mephisto) that I just popped and they will both be getting grow dots when they get here in the mail tomorrow. I will try and give them bud explosion when they start to flower.

If you look at some of my older posts, you can see I had some plants that looked just like yours. My issues were two fold. A touch more Ca and a bit more PK sorted it out. I really think that was your issue and adding some Pk early on would fix it.

Here is a picture of my 33 day old GSC that is bottom fed via autopot and only on grow dots along with a top feed of recharge every 7 to 10 days. I must say that the growth has amazed me - I just feed her RO water and that's it, never thought that she would show such massive growth with just that.

Eventually. Next up is a los grow. I'm itching for a strong grow
At 50 days on my girls with Osmocote in spent soil and tap water ( no pHing at all ) and planing the next run out since it's going well... Will continue till I start to get problems just to see how far it will go.

You are right. K is mobile. However in combination with other issues it can show in younger leaves. Some plants show signs differently. Soybean for instance shows K def in the middle to top as well.
It could be a lack of Ca affecting your K uptake. Ca shows up top and if lack of Ca is inhibiting K uptake to those portions you’ll see K def. Grow dots have Ca but not at a high enough ratio IMO for coco. They also have plenty of zinc. Plants take very little zinc up and as long as some is present I doubt that is your issue. Zinc is antagonized by P and Ca. Too much or little of those can lock zinc out. Again, my experience and education form my opinion. It’s just my opinion but very seriously doubt you have a Zn issue unless your deficient somewhere else.

I think you are right on, I have used grow dots also and had the same experience. Coco + grow dots + auto pots is probably just not a good combo since coco needs almost daily runoff to keep balance. I suggested the same things as you during the grow and no one agreed with me, so at least it’s nice to know I was not alone. Zinc deficiency is also extremely rare and almost always related to other issues so it being the primary problem seems extremely unlikely. As Occam’s razor suggests the solution to most problems is almost always the simplest one.

My 20g/gallon of grow dots did very very well! Even the 25g turned out great despite being a bit burned. I am even trying out a test where I let the dots sit for 15 days in the pot prior to planting so the PK release starts right when autos need it around 30 days so we'll see how that test goes!

I guess Dankerson agreed with me. I am going to try a new grow dots experiment soon, and I like your idea of letting the pot sit for 15 days, I may incorporate that into my experiment. I’ll be doing a side by side my next grow with 2 gal rain science bags growing 3 x El Chemi Kiwi in canna coco with canna nutrients and 1 in canna coco with grow dots watered with only calmag and silica. It think it will be interesting.

@Dankerson I was planning on using a 15g/gal. Do you think I should up it to 20g/gal? It sounds like yours at 20g came out nice, and canna coco has a very low base EC, so it won’t add much to total EC.
