I just bought some canna coco bricks and it does not say to use min 600 ppm when watering. Just curious if their product has changed since this tips thread started. Do you know if it changed? Their documentation says its buffered. And instructions don't mention the 600 ppm when hydrating either.

Hi Lunarman - I took the info from Canna Infopages that you can access by signing up to Mycanna (i think the USA version has the best info from memory http://www.cannagardening.com/faq) - I don't have a login to check anymore, however all the info was current at the time of posting.

The information i think at the time was taken for Bagged CannaCoco and not the bricks which i've never used or looked into (maybe that should be clearer in the intitial post, as i don't think i'd considered bricks at the time) .

I remember the info pages were very specific about the 0.8EC and above watering. I don't think i've ever burnt a seedling at that level.

I should also say for tranparency that i'm definately not the real Pro of Coco, and haven't used it in what feels like years now as i've moved over to soil and autopots and biotabs for less work. The information could well have altered slightly at Cannas end since it was posted - but think it still stands up to be a good guide for new coco growers.

Good luck with the grow! :D

Hi,

I Watering my 30 Days old Auto with an EC of 1.0 and the run off are 0.7EC is that the right sign to increase the EC to maybe 1.2?

Hi Andi,

I've never checked the run off EC during a grow. However at 30 days old (assuming normal growth) i would say you're very safe to up the EC to 1.2.

Just when I thought I might have coco under control...

I read in an above post "DO NOT PUT PLAIN WATER ON THE COCO MEDIUM"
Then in the picture above it says to re-hydrate the blocks with just water.
:dizzy:
Oh well, I re-hydrated my blocks with RO water and a little Rhizotonic and Calmag.

How did the grow turn out? Were you happy?

How do you fill your pots? I read somewhere that you should lightly put the medium into the pot and not compress it. I did that and now after watering , my soil level is down 2 " and that's after having added another inch to bring it up to under the false leaves.
