Mephisto Genetics Canna-Cheese 1:1 medicinal automatics by mephisto

Day 4 second seed, New Light installed (SP-250 Mars Hydro), removed other lights
My sp-250 got here yesterday and I set it up. Everything went well and the plants are all now happily living under the sp-250. This light is beautiful just absolutely beautiful. I didnt wanna have to spend money on a light but I knew what I wanted so I went with it. I did a lot of homework to know what light I wanted on what budget... but I need to clean more now. All my pots look dirty after I touch them every time now even when I clean them and the floor dirty after every watering. Now I feel anal retentive with this light

Anyway today is day 4 shes loving the light. Loving life and growing better than the last seed. The mixture of the new light and this go around have helped a lot.

So happy to hear that the canna-cheese works for you and the hubby. I keep following along and will learn from your journey how to grow these when they are available. Thanks!

Awesome to hear, stay along for the ride. This strain seems to like a bit different conditions than some other strains but I also needed to start thinking in terms of more hemp based strains. I think that nitrogen toxicity was part of the issue and possibly the lights. I know the temps have been much better over the last 24 hours with the new light. Plus she seems to be enjoying the light a lot. I love the light a lot

Thought she was making a left turn on day 4 but her course now looks full steam ahead - exciting to watch the daily progress!

Before you read further, I'll be planting another today in roots organic soil

So I had tossed 6 plants from other breeders (2 from bomb seeds, 4 from fast buds) yesterday because they had stopped growing and had just crapped out on me. I decided to look at the soil as I had taken them out. I noticed that all the perlite had begun to take up all the nutrients and began to build up salts. I figure I put in way too much perlite as I had probably more like 60% perlite than 30% in parts of the batch from not mixing it upwell. I went and reported the cannacheese and noticed the same exact thing. I moved it to roots organic soil and for the last about 16 hours shes been doing well. I am sure shell stunt a bit but I figured there was jo other salvation for the plant. I wish I would have taken pictures because I could have helped save a lot of people hassle. I learned a lot by doing that. Canna cheese is obviously very tolerant of high nutrients and as far as I can tell extremely hardy if it's not missing a beat on this. I expect her to take a week to recover then flower out as she has a nice root ball I broke up and washed out gently with ph'd to water to make sure she has clean roots. She got a big nitrogen burst right after transplant which i think is from all that salt build up that was right at her roots (you could literally see the flakes and they were the size of shards of small Crystal's about half a cm in size and dissolved in water. So I learned so much, the last few months!
Anyway, here she is day 19, having been transplanted shortly before sexing but she sexed this morning probably from being stressed and being right at that age, I know transplant at this time isnt ideal but let's see what shes got

I noticed that you tossed out 6 plants yesterday? Seems like you have been tossing a lot of stuff lately. I would like to ask a few questions. I believe you are/were using Miracle Grow soil? But will be using Roots Organics on next one? Did you use Miracle Grow on all 6 you tossed? If so, that is your issue. I personally would avoid Miracle grow soil. If you added 60% perlite, that is too much. Also, what wer you feeding the ones you threw away and how often? I also noticed you water right by the stem. That is counter productive for optimal root development. Watering the outside of the pot will allow the roots to seek moisture outwards and avoid overwatering. Also, I highly dicourage your Trsnsplant technique. Do not break up rootballs and wash the roots, you are taking a risk of damaging your root system. There is zero need to mess with the roots of a seedling. Good luck, slow

The problem was that I was feeding it full strength maxigro by general hydroponics every watering and watered daily. I havent been paying the attention I should have to my plants due to a lot of real life stuff going on. The issue isnt due to the soil as I had a successful harvest from miraclegro and a tropical wizard, it was how much perlite I was using. And yeah I should be watering towards the edges more.
As far as breaking up the rootball, when gently removing the soil from the rootball and allowing it to be washed without loss of the roots it forces the plant to seek out new soil so its root structure goes in to the new soil instead of not growing a root structure in the new soil. since I am encouraging it to be completely removed from it's old environment and from the soil it was in before and I didnt want any potential soil being moved over. It's a difference of growing styles. And I'm used to transplanting fruit trees where that's a common practice and dosent cause issues. So we will see what happens
