NEWS Canadians, I am curious ACMPR timeframe.

where did you read this?
It was one of those Dear Herb questions...

If anyone cares, the OCS has been out of seeds for the past week or so. Without legal starting material, it's a little hard to obey the law?
Apparently they have had "open product calls" for seeds which the licensed producers can try to fill. The last request expired in Oct 2019.

No seeds available in Alberta either.

Except at the stores where they sold openly before legalization. And at hemp shows.

Interesting... just checked the Ontario store. They've got a handful of new strains, all feminized. (When will we see some reg autos?) I have also seen open sale of illicit seed, but I don't get out much.

I received a good response from health Canada regarding the legal status of seed... our regulations are up for review three years after legalization (Oct 2021?).
One voice doesn't carry far; submit your criticisms. That's how things improve.

I'm really really not convinced we will see reg auto seeds in the near future sold by the provincial outlets.
Reg auto seeds have a major flaw which the government would never permit. ( :finger::backside:
They can reproduce.

Would the OCS turn away reg auto seeds grown by a licensed producer?.. they want product bad. As far as the regulations go, I'm not sure the government has anything to say about regular seed, unless there's some shady shit going on. It's the licensed producers would lose out if the public had access to legal regular seed. Someone will break rank, because there is money to be made - at least in the short term for the first outfit to produce regular seed.
I've looked into getting a nursery license... it's too bad that the security requirements, fees and everything else are truly a work of shart.

They've leveled the field for big corporations

1) As a Canadian you're only allowed to buy seeds from a licensed seed producer.
2) You can only buy seeds from these said producers which are in Canada.
Unless you're importing seeds from any other country.
In which case, you now need an import license.
It is not in the government s better interests to allow this without having some way to either collect taxes ( why you buy from a Canadian producer)...or get an import license ( a different form of tax collection).
In other words.
When you buy seeds from ANY other country, you're braking the law.(As far as the government is concerned).
OR, plan b, hermie the shit out of your plants ( bought at the OCS).
It's not about seed imports, but rather what Justin &Co. do best.
Putting their hands ever deeper into our pockets and collect taxes.
