Boveda Wants to Hear From YOU!

@Boveda Just taken notice of this . I live in the tropics and would not be without the 62s I store in mason jars and very few people up my way use them , not really know among the general smoking community here . I have given a lot away to friends and explained to them how to use them . They all are amazed how well they work . Gone are there days of crispy buds . They cost around $2.40 each here in Australia , which I believe is will worth the price .
Great Product Boveda .
Yes! Thank you for sharing the great news about Boveda!! Many people are skeptical but once you try them, you see the value immediately.

Cheers!

I have seen a number of posts on various forums claiming that Bovida packets aren't good for reducing humidity, that they really only work to increase or maintain humidity. There has been a few times where I have left bovida packets out in the air and they have dried right out until they are hard inside, at which point I usually put them in a container suspended above some liquid water and they re-hydrate. I'd imagine if you put some dried out packets in a jar with some bud that is a little too wet it could probably absorb quite a bit of excess moisture without over-drying.
Has bovida ever done any experiments using dry packets to reduce moisture levels? Might be great for when you jar a little too early and the RH climbs back up to 70, might also reduce the length of time you need to burp the jars for each day.

Hey there! Boveda technology exudes pure water vapor into over dry bud & absorbs excess moisture from bud that isn't dry enough. It is literally a balancing act that works on a continuous basis. When you open your jar to select your nug, then replace the lid, Boveda works to quickly RE-regulate the humidity of the ambient air in that container.

You sort of answered your own question here. The fact that people re-fill Boveda is proof that they reabsorb. It works by osmosis through holes only big enough to let water molecules through. I've done it with fresh fruit for an experiment. I also have a 62 in with my Turkish dates so I don't break a tooth eating them :)

So yes, one of our things is worry-free curing. If you put your bud to jar too early, Boveda will absorb the excess. Naturally, there is a limit there so I don't recommend putting fresh fresh bud in and expecting the pack itself to have that capacity.

Now, your q at the end makes me want to experiment :)

You're wondering if you put used Boveda packs in an overly humid environment, will they absorb the excess humidity? Possibly some, but the technology requires an airtight environment which is difficult to attain in a grow environment. Maybe next male seedling I find I'll experiment :)

I was mainly wondering if the bovida packet would work better for reducing the excess moisture in a jar if you dried the packet out before putting it in the jar.
I would assume it would then have greater capacity to absorb more moisture?
I have some bud I just finished drying and put in jars a little early. One jar is currently at 70% so I put a couple dried out bovida 4g packets in the jar a couple days ago. So far it hasn't seemed to reduce the humidity much at all and the packets are still hard. I am burping the jar as well as I don't want to get mold, but hopefully I'll be able to tell if the packets are helping at all.

In my experience, They help SLIGHTLY for reduction and highly for maintaining / remoisurizing. I leave them in the jar from day 1 until its empty. They get burped for the same length of time, etc... I reuse them until they finally start looking like theyre about to tear.
That being said... I feel better having them in my day 1-3 jars when the humidity will hit above 70 for hours while im at work. And they never dry out by keeping them rotating from empty jar (drying out slowly) to a new jar (rehydrating).

ive got a dozen 32oz jars filled loosely with bud and each has 1 8g 62 in it. the humidity of the jars is steady at 65% humidity and has been there for days...humidity only goes down when burped..i was under the impression the 62s would lower my jars at least a little or ideally to 62% but im not seeing it..any ideas? at least its not going up i guess :kitty::wall:

That's a bit of a risky endeavor my friend. I hope you haven't put a lot of bud in that jar. This is not how Boveda works and 70% humidity is now in the realm of mold growth, most of which you won't be able to see very well. Please be careful with this experiment.

Boveda is a humidity regulator not a desiccant so it may not re-absorb that way at all. Keep us posted :)

Hey there, and we're sure the bud was dry enough when it went into the jar? Take care with that RH over 65%. I almost think you should take the Boveda out & leave the jars open for a while to dry further.

Also, here's the visual for pack > cannabis correlation. There's a chance you need to pop another 8 gram Boveda in there. Would those jars hold more than one oz? 8 g Boveda works for > 1 oz.

There great at stabilizing and their direct impact will be less visable as we get closer to perfection. Are you still popping your jars? If their still over 62, i still pop for a lil bit and that 3% will come out slowly. (I also give a lil range as my hydrometers are cheap and not 100% accurate, +/-3%)

yeah still burp once a day for a couple minutes..checked my 5 cheapo hygrometers against my humidistat and surprised to see that they were all spot on..im guessing these boveda packs are primarily for re-hydration when they're new...and as they are depleted start to absorb moisture but i could be wrong

yep i know the limitations per oz.. :)
just 1 oz per jar ..got jarred at 65% goes down 1% when burped and stays there for a few hours then back up....
ideally a 2.5-3.5% reduction in humidity over 14 days would be ideal for a basic cure imo..
just gave them another 5 min burp...lets see what happens!
