New Grower BillyWu's first grow - Think Different autoflowering

Hello folks! I'm gonna be using this grow diary to show you all how my first autoflowering grow ever turns out :] I haven't set it all up yet to grow as I'm awaiting various components in the post, but here is the setup I will be using.

Strain: Think Different by Dutch Passion
Pot: 20 litre plastic
Medium: Soil (Biobizz light mix)
Environment: Secret Jardin Dark Room pro DR60 II, 24"x24"x64"
Lighting system: 250W HPS, dual spectrum bulb with cool tube reflector
Carbon filter: Rhino pro carbon filter
Extraction fan: 100mm RVK fan
Intake: Passive
Nutrients: Biobizz grow, Biobizz flower, Biobizz Topmax, Formulex, Biobizz Root juice
Temperature: Aiming to keep a consistent 75°F - 80°F during lights on, 65°F - 70°F lights off
pH: Aiming to keep a consistent 6.6 - 7.0 pH in the soil, water/nutrients

I'll be seeking frequent advice to see how big I can get my plant. All help that you guys can offer when the time comes will be greatly appreciated :]

hey looks like a good setup i was going to buy that tent myself, secret jardin are great quality.
just a thought on getting it as big as possible, with autos pot size seems to dictate their size so probably best you going with a small enough pot but with lst etc(if your strain takes it well) you can control the height anyway if it is too big in the end. thats all strain dependant though and ive never personally seen a grow log of this one, maybe have a google and see if there are any. they could show you nute issues(likes alot/very little) general height all that kinda stuff. you may have already anyway if so ignore this.
are you only growing one? i would say if you have more than one seed available to you then plant 2 just incase one dies/is male if non fem seed etc. there are always unforeseen circumstances. also you get so many seeds free when ordering them that its not really wasteful imo.
either way you can choose the strongest or the one that isnt hitting off the lights etc and kill/donate/free the other once you need space, or keep both if they turn out a bit smaller than you had planned. i like to germ straight into soil myself less chance of damaging tap roots etc.

i just mean as seedlings incase one dies or is sick, so you can choose the best to keep, otherwise youd have to start again if you only start one. doesnt matter anyway just an idea.

Update: Going to be going with a 25 litre pot instead, wasn't quite as big as I thought it'd be :] Or is this a little too big? Could drop to a 20.

What kind of soil are you planning on using? A lot of UK growers are using Biobizz Light Mix, which seems to be a very good choice. Regarding your pot size, 25 or even 20 liter is overkill. Most autos will do fine in in 3 gallon or 12 liter pots. Also, 6.8 is a bit high for soil pH. 6.3 - 6.5 in a soil mix is best. You'll need a good pH meter more than an EC meter, although if you can find one that does both that would be the better choice.

Also, this thread is in the wrong forum as this is the photo forum and you're growing autos. Going to move it to the New Growers forum which will be more appropriate given that this is your first auto grow.

If Biobizz light is good, then I'll be going with that. I have a fair amount of extra room and considering I'm only growing the one plant, I'm gonna give it a go with a 20 litre pot and see how it goes. More room is probably better than not enough should the roots decide to fill out :]

Update: Just ordered the nutrients and other various bits of apparatus.

Ordered a 20 litre pot and 50 litres of Biobizz light mix soil. Bought 500ml of Biobizz flower and 500ml of Biobizz grow, as well as 500ml of Biobizz Topmax for the end of plant's cycle.
All of my equipment is now here besides the timer and that which I mentioned above. Once I've bought an extension cable to supply the power to the light and fans then it's full speed ahead! I'll be posting in here frequently for advice :]

Edit: Just tested the tap water at home, the pH is a horrible 8.3. Can anyone recommend which water source I should switch to? Distilled seems logical.

Update: Growing has begun! Everything's been set up and the seeds are germinating right now, should be done tomorrow :] See the attached image for my setup.

The extraction fan is outside the tent whilst the rest of the equipment is inside. With the fan on full speed and the light going, the temperature is at a steady 80°F without the oscillating fan turned on. I can increase the temperature or lower it with the fan speed controls :]

I'll post an update once the germinating is done and the seed's in it's new pot :]

Should I water my soil before I plant the seed in it? It seems logical as it's really dry right now.
