Day 1 (from seed germination)
Well it took 5 days for the seed to germinate, but it's finally popped it's little cotyledons through the rockwool without it's seed hat on
All looks well. pH is still at 5.5, EC is about 0.85 (maybe a wee bit too much) and the res temps are now at a consistent 71.4 degrees Fahrenheit (lights on) and about 66-68 degrees Fahrenheit (lights off).
Gonna do a res change in a couple of days.

Everything is going brilliantly so far. pH has been consistent and EC hasn't been a problem.
Done a fresh res change today. The EC is 0.8 (again just Formulex with a little more Voodoo Juice this time) and I've upped the pH to 5.8. Seymour's DWC TD journal has been a big help to me so far, I'm trying to replicate what he did to see if I can achieve similar results
The roots are now in the res too Topped up the mesh pot with pebbles also.

My res temperature is at 73 degrees Fahrenheit, is this a little too high? I'd like to be able to lower it to about 68 if I can. I've ordered a length of mylar sheeting to insulate the buckets but I get the feeling this won't lower the temperature all that much

You and me both buddy. I'm tripling insulation. Frozen water bottle seem to work really quick, but melts really quick. So the trick really is to maintaining temperatures, not fight if. Even with the water cooler I'll get eventually, this triple insulation will make the chiller work much much less.
You could get wider buckets, pop the whole bucket in, and fill it the outer one with cold water, ice packs etc.
On single buckets its more permissive, I've got them linked, so my measures really are prophylactic than anything
I've got a little 2L DWC going with an AWW lollipop cutting, using Canna Coco nutes :roflcry: from my big plants, totally neglected, zero rez changes only top ups, who knows what temp and pH... man, unbelievable. No cloning gel, nothing, just cut straight to a root riot cube and bubble the water at the same EC as the big flowering plants (EC 1.4 - 1.6) and it sprung into life and just keeps on growing...
Completely neglected, absolutely sure water temps have been above 24oC (79F) maybe more, been almost 2 months, roots are nice and white.
Check this out... I did everything except cut the little air pump. I wanted trouble with in so I could see what it could look like before setting up my alien hydro... Nothing!

That's pretty surprising dude, you must've made a pretty fine res for the plant to thrive like that
