Just waiting on my air pump and air lines, bubbler bucket & air stones (with rockwool and pebbles) and water transfer pump and it should be all set to go then. I've got my liquid silicone, Big Bud and CalMag already, and my current plant is getting cut down in about 5-6 days Flushed her last night.

Alright everyone, got a little bit of a problem. I've had a 41 LPM air pump come in the post. Whilst it's perfect for the job, it's WAY too loud. It resonates throughout the whole house with a loud hum and it's approximately 46 dB.

The Hailea V20 air pump is also too loud at approximately 36 decibels. What I'm having to do now is return this current air pump and look for a suitable alternative. I think I've found one.

It's a HiBlow 40. 32 dB loud (so very quiet), 40 litres per minute. It costs quite a bit though...

Here's what I plan to do. I plan to start germinating my White Widow seed later tonight or tomorrow so that I can immediately propagate it in the rockwool and start growing. Would it be okay to let the seedling grow through the rockwool and into the pebbles with no air pump? Just for a few days whilst I sort out my refund and get my other one ordered The other pump will arrive in time for the roots to reach the water.

Im still messing around with this Billy but I get the net pot , pebbles & cubes all set & ready & germ straight into the lot mate View attachment 277633kept it all in a propagating environment until sprout (24hrs) & kept moist until a saw a root out the base of the pot 48hrs later ,then got the bucket ready .Did this with the 16oz comp entries as they had roots out the net pot in 3 days from germ too .

So can say ive done & it has been the quickest root in res times ive had so deffo works:smokebuds:

Just 1 more question. How much Voodoo juice should I put in my water to soak my pebbles and rockwool in? I imagine about an EC of 0.2?

1/8 to 1/4 strength max i would guess?. I use tiny amounts of rhizo ... a good PH 5.5 soak is more important :stylez rasta smoke:

Exciting times! I've been wanting to try DWC for ages, but I haven't been able to afford the setup But now I finally can!

I'll probably end up buggering it up in some way or another lol, but I'm hoping my lab skills experience in the science industry will help me here.

Could you guys just clarify a few things for me please to see if I've got my facts right? :stylez rasta smoke:

-Water temperatures in the reservoir should be 65°F - 72°F. True?
-I should have my water level 2 inches below the bottom of the mesh pot. True?
-Will I need a heater to keep my reservoir at the right temperature at night? My grow room is usually about 85°F with the light and extraction fan on, and about 70°F with the light and fan off at night.
-Do I need a water pump in the bottom of my reservoir to pump water to the roots in the mesh pot? Like the picture below?

Hey Billy you don't have to have the water level below the pots, I start mine with the water level just a bit above the bottom of the pot, a little trick I picked up from SB. Temps look good. and you should not need a pump in the bottom if you keep the cube close to the water it will get all of the nutes it needs from the bubbles rising and popping
