the medium,is just the thing thats in the pot/container.soilless is the mediums ability to retain nutrients.
hempy thats perlite in a pot.a soiless medium because it dont hold no nutes.
is peat a bit like cocococo just a big wad of stuff that holds loads of water ? a soilless medium like cococo would or maybe should be treated similar,as in they like a lower ph and a good buffering of cal/mag.
im just a numpty throwing out theories

a tiny bit off,a lil tweek will get it sorted,as you say its putting your finger on the exact issue.its just a lil tweek is needed nothin crazy,nearly there
