I was asked if I had a grow journal here on AFN to which I answered no. But lets change that and I'll catch you up from the start.

2x2 tent, 135W HLG QB, 5G fabric pot w/Ocean Forest amended with additional perlite, Advanced Nutrients base Ph perfect and AN bud supplements.

Plant is an auto-flower Northern Lights, and this is my first auto grow and first NL strain. I have her on an 18/6 light schedule, and she is 6.5 weeks old now. Did LST to balance her growth pattern, now letting her reach up for stretching and bud stacking.

She started out as a cripple with her cotyledons "glued" together. There was no husk or membrane gluing her together, so I did surgery on her and ended up losing most of one cotyledon. But she was strong and didn't give up on me.

She developed a crazy layer of starburst new growth which I suppose was due to trauma.

She pulled out of the nosedive and I began LST a couple of weeks later

Kept working the LST for a star/bowl shape

Letting her grow vertical so here she is currently at 6.5 weeks. I think she'll develop some nice colas considering I initially thought she'd die on me. Never give up.

Stunning! From humble beginnings, she looks to be developing into something special ... great job with the training.

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement, @davisgirl ! I popped several beans in Solo cups intending to keep one plant inside in the 2x2 tent, then plant the others outside. Since this baby had some issues, I gambled by keeping her inside so I could give her the best chance to make it with extra TLC. It seems to have worked!

Oh great! Who is the breeder on the Northern Lights? Whatcha got outside?

The NL baby came from ILGM. I'm not sure how they source their genetics, or if they actually do in-house breeding too?

Outside is a mix of autos and photo plants, some are in-ground and a few are in containers. Mazar autos, Blue Dream photos, White Widow photos, White Widow autos, Northern Light autos. Got lots to tend to but I enjoy gardening and horticulture as a hobby. Love tomatoes and they are looking great too. I feed them right along with the MJ plants...same base nutes and mix it by the 5G bucket.

@davisgirl here is a pic of a Mazar auto at 3 weeks old in her "tomato cage" to keep critters from grazing on her. However, some pesky insects ate a leaf or two, so I hope they like Sevin dusted fan leaves for their next meal. Good luck bugs...lol.

She is nested up against a huge rosemary shrub to repel as many bugs as I can naturally. A bit of top dressed hay keeps her moisture under control and helps keep the top of the soil cooler.

Nice! Well done Stone! Looks like a lot of fun, a lot of work too for sure but when you get the growing bug, there you have it. Love the tomato cage idea, it’ll come in handy if you need to do any training later.

For sure the tomato cage will be an ideal place to secure plant ties for some light training such as LST. She is looking good and healthy now, so I'll let her develop a bit more and make a low stress training decision in a week or two. Thanks for the good input @davisgirl !

My NL-A has 5 baby “tent-mates” to oversee which are all just emerging - love to see that!!! Her canopy overhang is ideal to help shade the new plants, and I metered the uMoles of light output at the foliage level of the solo cups, and the light is perfect for these seedlings.

The five cups include three Blue Dreams and two White Widows all of which are photo plants from ILGM. Given that we’ll have them in the ground by the second week of June, we should be perfect for a fall harvest. These plants replace several other misfortunes that we already had growing well. From a random bag seed which my buddy insisted on planting, we got 3 males which are no longer with us, and 2 other plants that the deer seemed to enjoy. We have since started using tomato cages for protection and eventually to provide support.

The big sister NL-A is rocking along steady nearing week 7. Her buds are stacking and her stretch gives these buds plenty of room to develop. Some folks say a NL-A should take 10 weeks pop to crop. At this point, I’d say no way this will happen based on her current development. Not that I’m in a hurry or anything like that, but I’ll say more like 12 (or more) weeks is reasonable. These are ILGM NL-A seeds, so if anyone has an idea of the weeks this girl will take…please holler!

Great looking first auto man.

Ok, I have to ask - on a site as mature as AFN how on earth did a brand new member get the name Stone420?!??

Lol, great job.
