Mephisto Genetics Atulip Sprouts Mephisto - Organic - LED

This is my first time trying super soils. Gonna layer half the pot with super soil and the top half will be the 2 organic soils I'm also testing alone. Gbd's is a tweaked subcool recipe, but in convenient kit form(and you can buy some seeds while your there lol)

I've used Coots organic kit from build a soil for over a year now. Plants love it but I wasn't getting the yields I wanted without feeding on top of it. That's where I used the general organics line for feedings every week or 2. I've cut that completely, except for the general organics calmag. I also wanted to try the build a soil nutrients, I like the more diversified mix.

I got heavy with ferts after that, so I thought I'd just let the experts handle the soil mixes. Trying to keep things more organized as well. Before I was always just cramming plants everywhere cuz we needed more bud lol. And it worked pretty well IMO. Big ole roots for 8"x8" plants allowed for some heavy yields, even with stunted ones. I'm getting the rest updated and you can see some of the issues still ongoing for the old soil.

Hopefully the super soils will do well, but the rep from kind soil(supersoil) recommended against it on a bottom fed wick system. Kinda glad because when I actually checked the prices the stuff is $15/gallon from them. I would need to spend $80 on soil every week. Hard to justify that cost when I can get water only organic nutrient kits for $2/gallon and making a base soil is well under $1/gal. At 5x the cost per pot and I might as well go hydro and set up flood tables and timers and go fully automated lol.

lol I hear ya!!!!! I'm trying to transition away from hydro because as much as I love being THAT involved in the growing process, life has a funny way of keeping me away for short spurts and hydro is definitely not a "set it and forget it" process!!!! Although, with the plants I have going now, I did a little experimentation because I'm getting bored that they're taking so damn long (must be Sativa-dom), so I let the res go almost 2 full weeks without a change, and all I did was top-up with distilled water and the remainder of the nute mix I made.. Didn't seem to stunt them, however they ALL foxtailed, so I'm not sure wtf I did wrong during the whole grow!!! lol

So far, the variation of subcool's recipe seems to be doing well with my MJ, however I don't think my garden veggies have hit that layer yet, so I'm hoping I have the same luck!! What I DO notice is that the soil drains VERY fast, so when I water it, the second the water hits the soil, it's already streaming out of the bottom of the pot.. I watered my plants yesterday (18L nursery pots), and between the 2 of them, only took 1 full gallon of water, but I've literally only had to water them once a week.. I used Roots Organic for the top layer, and so far, I'm really enjoying the organic grow!!!!!!!!

I may downsize my hydro set-up and run only one plant in it, and use my tent for it, because like I said, I DO love the science behind it, but it's just a pain in my ass sometimes!!! now that Summer is here, I'm not sure what it's going to be like growing in the basement, so I figure if I can knock out a couple variables from the equation, it'll make mine and my wife's lives easier, as if I have to go away, she is fully capable of watering them..

I did forget to mention; when I made the subcool variation, I only did half a batch, and I was able to fill all of the planters and my MJ pots, and I still have enough left over for my next MJ run, which I'm thinking may be a photoperiod... Total cost was about $175 for the half-batch, and it has successfully filled enough for 18-20 plants (using nursery pots and planters..) I'll take a picture of my impromptu outdoor garden to give you an idea of how much I used.. It boils down to about $2-3/gal, from my estimates..

Have you ever considered foliar sprays?? I know some people are adamantly against them, especially when in flower, but since an Auto has such a short lifespan, would it be beneficial??

I am trying figure out where you came up with the figure that the kind soil is $15.00 per gallon?

24 Carat (Day 71) harvested. Not huge but lovely dense colorful nugs. 10-20% Amber trichs. If she smokes good I think 12 of her will follow the Walter white.

Everybody else is a bit bigger than allowed in the old setup. I haven't really defol'd or trained any of these except for the 2 Ripley's OG.

Ripley's OG(Day 55, 58)
left fimmed, right topped twice(3 tops removed). Mainline

Chem City Blues (day 63, 62) big ole bushy mofos. Untrained and they have the perfect canopy, amazing. Tops everywhere.

24 carat(Day 49) WTF are these things? Roots for days. I normally clean the roots off weekly but I haven't really moved them since the setup, so some extreme root pruning today.

SODK(Day 49) little lean on one from uneven pots before. But big old bushy suckers.

Fantasmo Express(Day 48) beautiful nug structure. Under more of the 4000k before, getting moved under the 3500k now.

It was $125 for 25 pounds shipped iirc. On the kind site it says 1 pound = 5 cups. 125 cups / 16 per gallon = 7.8 gallons. $125 / 7.8 = $16.02

GBD's super soil mix is €15/ 10gallons. Even buying a $30 shipped bag of roots organic for that mix it's under $5/gallon.

Hmm so what size pots are you using? Cause for me 10 pounds will do 6 3 gallon pots.. 1.5 pounds per pot on the bottom of the pot and fill in the rest to the top with roots organic.. That makes it he cost right at $6.00 per pot ..

That's half strength from the kind site( 1 pound per 1 gallon pot size) $12 per at their recommended dosage.

Most supersoils you fill half the pot. I go by volume not weight. 1.5gallons per pot. 7.8gallons / 1.5gal, 5.2 x 3 gallon pots half filled for $125

Gbd mix gets me 6.6 x 3 gal pots half filled for under $30(shipping and base soil).

That is for photos for autos no more than 1.5 pounds he will be updating his skittle to indicate this

But whatever works for ya.. I will be trying the mix from Mephisto for sure.. Going to run a comparison..
