This is my first time trying super soils. Gonna layer half the pot with super soil and the top half will be the 2 organic soils I'm also testing alone. Gbd's is a tweaked subcool recipe, but in convenient kit form(and you can buy some seeds while your there lol)
I've used Coots organic kit from build a soil for over a year now. Plants love it but I wasn't getting the yields I wanted without feeding on top of it. That's where I used the general organics line for feedings every week or 2. I've cut that completely, except for the general organics calmag. I also wanted to try the build a soil nutrients, I like the more diversified mix.
I got heavy with ferts after that, so I thought I'd just let the experts handle the soil mixes. Trying to keep things more organized as well. Before I was always just cramming plants everywhere cuz we needed more bud lol. And it worked pretty well IMO. Big ole roots for 8"x8" plants allowed for some heavy yields, even with stunted ones. I'm getting the rest updated and you can see some of the issues still ongoing for the old soil.
Hopefully the super soils will do well, but the rep from kind soil(supersoil) recommended against it on a bottom fed wick system. Kinda glad because when I actually checked the prices the stuff is $15/gallon from them. I would need to spend $80 on soil every week. Hard to justify that cost when I can get water only organic nutrient kits for $2/gallon and making a base soil is well under $1/gal. At 5x the cost per pot and I might as well go hydro and set up flood tables and timers and go fully automated lol.
