Indoor Alien v/s Triangle(special pheno) & Grape Walker Kush

Greetings everyone. I'm back at it with another journal. While this isn't my first rodeo, this is my first time doing these two strains:

Alien v/s Triangle
&
Grape Walker Kush

After doing a bit of research on them I figured I'd give them a shot, plus you can't go wrong with @mephisto. This will also coincide with the 2018 grower of the year competition. I was pretty happy to get 5th place from the 2017 comp (not bad for my 1st time entering) so I figured I'd give it a go again.

The equipment:

x2- 3.5 gallon dwc buckets with rhizocore lids

x2- 5 gallon black buckets I picked up at home depot. They are in case we go out of town and can't be there to add water. They've worked pretty well so far. We've even left a few ladies in there before to see how they compare in size etc.

x1- active aqua commercial airpump 110lpm/1750 gph (new to the set up and a step up from my 951gph one)

GH nute line
Silica Blast
HydroGuard
Calmag
PH down and up

x2- @platinum p300's
x1- 400 watt Mars
x2- 3500k autocobs (also new to the room. Shout out to @BigSm0)
Those replaced some 300 watt Mars that I had previously. I ended up giving those to a buddy.

So pretty much the same equipment as before aside from some bigger buckets, and a couple upgrades with a bigger pump, and some autocobs..

They both went into shot glasses last Friday night:

And by Sunday night they went into their root riot cubes and into the nursery:

Now we just wait for them to show signs of life and we will be up and running! As soon as they do I will update. Other than that, I usually try to update and stay current once a week.

This is great. This is EXACTLY the two strains I am just finishing up. I believe there is 2 different AvT selections.....there was the Illuminauto AvT special Kush pheno, and the regular AvT. I got the special Kush. Which one is this? GWK is ridiculously strong. The textbook definition of one hit shit. I believe my GWK is done by the weekend, it's on day 70 as we speak. Gonna have to tag along and watch the magic if that's cool. I also just started some fresh babies a week ago.....more GWK....lol. For the record, It's SUPER STINKY at the end. Make sure your filtering is good...I came home the other day and smelled GWK out by the road....and that's off 2 plants. Cheers and enjoy the OUTRAGEOUS strains.

Nice! I'll have to take a look at your journal when I get the chance. I was kinda hoping to come across one so I could get some more insight.
Ive done a grape crinkle and Skywalker before so im excited to try a cross of both of these. I liked them both individually so I can only imagine what they're like together. I do hope, that it's a decent yielder. The crinkle I've done before wasn't a big yielder, but that was my first time trying dwc. I've gotten some more experience and changed my techniques so I'm pretty confident this will be good to go this round.
Thanks for the extra info on them as well, and I'll have my scrubber ready for when the time comes.
The AvT is the special pheno for sure, and as a matter of fact she popped up to the world this morning. I didn't realize she was of the Kush variety either, so that's pretty cool to know. I'm still waiting for GWK to show up. I'll post a picture or two after work. Thanks again for the input and for tagging along.

yo man im subbed up for this one... very curious as to how the AVT is gonna turn out.. i have 3 seeds of them and was gonna start them but they kinda got pushed to the back of the line because im thinking i may go with THC bomb from bomb seeds... as for the Mephisto genetics.. i had a bad experience with em so far.. i did only try to grow a Chem city blues from them.. but out of the 3 seeds i had.. only one popped and that one only grew to harvest me about 3 to 4 oz... i was pretty disappointed. im hoping that you have better luck.. and glad to see someone else running hydro.. because hydro is life... lol.. good luck and good vibes on your grow..:smoking:

Glad you're along for the ride bro. I'm also interested in seeing how she's gonna turn out. She popped above ground as of yesterday and is already looking good. I've always wanted to try bomb seeds. The cherry bomb in particular has been on my wishlist for some time now. But I have alot of other beans to go through with more (the new mephisto artisanals) on the way due to placing in the mephisto comp. I admit, I too have had a bad experience with a deep blue c that didn't take off well either and got pulled. Also had a double grape that turned out to be a mutated runt. We ended up pulling her at around 6 weeks and should've pulled her sooner. Could've been my fault or just a random bad pheno. Tough to say really.. Other than that we've had decent turn outs with their genetics, and imo even better results with hydro/dwc compared to soil. I'm on board the hydro is life train too,haha. I don't think I see myself ever going back to dirt. The chemdoggin we did a few months back ended up yielding over 3 oz. I am ok with pulling 3-4 zips per lady. We had a fastbuds tangie that gave us almost 10 oz and she was high maintenance, but worth it in the end and was a personal best. Thanks for the good luck, vibes, and for joining in. RN4L

Welp, this is the day I usually do my weekly updates. There has been some activity going on inside the nursery and AvT has shown herself to the world as of yesterday morning 01/24/2018:

As for GWK, she hasn't popped quite yet but after taking a peek into the root riot, she's definitely making moves and establishing her tap root. I anticipate she will make herself known either by today (hopefully) or tomorrow. I would think no later than this weekend.

One thing I think is weird, is that one root riot(the GWK in this instance) cube stays wetter than the other and we're not sure why, as we prepare them the same exact way. This is not the first time it has happened either. My theory is that our floor isnt level and perhaps the water on the bottom of the tray is going more to one side. Overall im not quite sure though. I'll probably end up looking more into this.

Anyways that's pretty much all I got for today until GWK shows up, then I'll post a picture as soon as I can.

In the meantime, here's a picture of the other ladies we have chilling.
White widow (front) green crack (middle) and pineapple express (in the back). Pineapple is officially 1-2 weeks from being done.

yea man the chem city i had really reminded me of a mutated plant lol culdnt find the words to describe it... and yes hydro just seems to be overall way better quality buds... im in California so I can go to the cannabis clubs and buy some but it seems EVERYTIME i did i found that they were cut prematurley and very very very poorly trimmed...(and i was buying top shelf) but im thinking maybe since i grow personally that im much more critical about the fine details. lol so i made the decision if i want my bud a certain way, im jus gonna have to grow it myself lol

Man, I wish we could have that option like in California. Hopefully some day though. I am trying to hit up the black hole sometime in the fall of 2019, before the Raider's move to Vegas. I assume it's probably hard to tell what you're exactly getting when it comes to getting a cut unless it is from a reliable source. Shit, to be honest, I didn't even know wtf a forum cut exactly was until last night,lol. I do agree that doing it yourself is alot better. You know what you're putting into it, and it's alot more satisfying when harvest time comes. [emoji41]
