New Grower A need for more Constructive Critisism

Is it just me, or is there a lot of back patting and ego boosting on this Forum and only a small amount of constructive criticism. Ive noticed a on a number of differnt times coming across new growers on here having troubles with there grows and ppl just telling them they are doing a great job. Also ive noticed it seems ppl are discouraged to tell others if an auto strain is bunk and not worth the time.

Im not sure what happend at the other forums that most of you came from, but what ive gatherd is there was lots of fights and shit slinging. and makes sense that you dont want that hear. But constructive critism is need and IMO it makes your learning curve go much faster and you improve much faster with your grows. I learnd tons from constructive critism and taught ppl and watch them rapidly improve the same way.If somone is haveing a shitty grow and is new point out whats going wrong or atleast try to figure out what they are doing wrong.

if i'm down don't kick me,help me up
thats why this works for me,i can go elsewhere and be told im using the wrong seed or wrong medium or wrong lights or whatever but here ,with pic posting...everyone i've met just wants to help in a very encouraging and non-offensive manner.
not to pump my ego but to watch and see if maybe that might be a strain they might be interested in having in their grow someday.

YEAH! I'd def. say there is a ton of encouragement here. I also see a lot of suggestions but no one really saying they should change something. But if someone sees something way off they are on the ball to inform them.

I wouldn't say discourage? Just want the backup to a blatant claim, b4 hurting a breeders rep. I see more often q's are asked to how they were tried what were they're results etc. Everyone is still entitled to their opinion. Blatant slander and overall negativity has discouraged since day 1 as far as I can see.

Here's a bunk seed for ya... Nirvana's JockHorror Auto is hit and miss with the auto gene and there is enough to prove that, BUT you still get a lovely girl for a photo if Auto doesn't carry.

I would disagree that there is a lack of constructive criticism. Maybe sometimes it's not always as flat out and just thrown out there. Often it is carefully worded by the members and it makes the site special for that reason. I've did several edits before posting a somewhat negative comment as to not discourage but help steer and I think lots of members on here are doing the same and like it done to them.

But I can't say much to ya though, your Grows always rock the house. Superior grower my friend.

I give advice when asked. Some times advice comes across that you are telling people how to do things. When they are set on some thing. Could be some one who's been busy forgot a watering.. know what i mean? That's the thing about opinions, everyone has them. But a good attitude is hard to come by.

If they think they are having trouble people ask. I know people give advice in PM some times. I see lots of constructive criticism going on. Just not lots of drama. :clap:

To each their own? I am not personally going to nit pick a guys grow. Cheers for posting them for us! I see lots of new growers coming for advice. And i have seen people ask for help, get help and post up nice big girls.. You should come and offer advice mate, instead of pointing your fingers at us for not doing it your way.. It's a community here. Your more than welcome.

As far as reports. People can post what ever they want. Good or bad. I PERSONALLY have a hard time writing off a whole strain based on a 10 pack or one grow. So you won't see me slam many autos, because with some work. I have found good in every line i've grown.
Edit: well LR1 was pretty shitty

There have been issues with some people and the reviews they posted.. The thing we don't want is people flying in with one or 4 posts complaining, then getting free seeds for it. There are proper measures to resolving issues. Anyone who is here more than the odd day, knows what advice is good on here.

I think it's refreshing to see how people get along on here. imo...

No one wants to be critiszed thats true for everyone, But Construcitve criticism is differnt and a good thing. Ive wanted to make this post for a while, just never got around to it.

I guess it makes sense that ppl dont want to be blunt about it on this forum to keep everything nice and friendly. When i first came to this site all the "back patting" kinda discouraged me a bit because with my OCD im pretty nit picky and blunt when it comes to my posting (used to be known as Blunt Man cuz im very blunt), and just used to more advanced grows puting stuff bluntly. Ive noticed being blunt can come off as being a jerk , thats kinda a reason why i havent been to involved in the AFN. I noticed small arguements that got ppl banned and i didnt want that. But if you say its cool for me to be blunt and not have to pretty my post up, then i will definatly come by more often and help out.
Im not trying to point fingers here, just want to see the site and the growers on the site to improve. Ive been known to bruise a few egos with my bluntness but it is always for the best and those growers always improve befor my eyes.

The only backpatting I've seen, is really just some sucking up in hopes to be first in line to get their hands on seeds.
Every grower who has asked for help or advice has gotten it.
Maybe its not the advice you would of given, but it's still advice.
If you don't think it's good advice, why not chime and give your own advice.
There are plenty of examples in threads where differing advice is given & debated.
Just remember the sayings,
"Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"
"Check yo-self befor ya wreck ya-self"

What i ment by "bruising egos" was i have had some pretty heat debate/arguments with fellow grows about autos and in the end they saw it my way and improved. dont worry tho i dont have want to argue anymore, all it does is make 1 look like a know it all jerk. Im not talking about ppl asking for advice im more addressing the times when help isnt asked for but needed, such as a new grower not sure if hes doin stuff right but everyones telling him hes doin great, that kinda stuff what im getting at in this thread. and I never said im dissatissfied with this forum, i said I want to see it and the growers improve. no need to get all defencive

I love both the good criticism and the back-patting. I'm brand new to this game and am always looking for pointers and help. When I ask, people here are more than happy to help and answer. When I don't ask and solicit advice, people here don't interject. I used to day-trade and was part of a forum that was exactly like this one, only for day-trading. Everyone was kind, honest, and offered advice when solicited, or when something was just drastically wrong. I would imagine if I posted up a pic of a brown, dead plant and said "Hey guys! Check out my new grow! Isn't it awesome?" that people would chime in and say... "uhhhhhh.... you had some of that goooooood stuff today, didn't ya?" kind of thing.

It's peaceful here. Constructive criticism is certainly needed with lots of folks, myself included. I just prefer to get it when I ask, or when something is drastically wrong. But, that's just li'l ol' me.
