Hey guys,
So in the interim of waiting for the equipment to arrive for 'the main room' we've been clearing out what we previously called 'the 6 light room' ...
Again over the years this room has undergone several evolutions. This room is a little troublesome - It's not as well insulated as the main room, in winter it gets a little too much on the cold side, in summer it's pretty nice though. Also problem 2, is that if there is a flash flood, or sustained periods of heavy rains (neither are very common, perhaps a couple of times a year) this room can flood.
So an easy-ish solution was always to have plants raised off the floor.
Setup 1 - Was 4 of 1.2m x 1.2m tents, this was nice for breeding/seedmaking and general use but it wasn't the most efficient use of space for the room.
When first cleared out.
Operational with tents! 36 plants per 4x4 - More time to handwater back in the day..
Setup 2 - The tents were re-located upstairs, 6x 600w shades were added, raised floor was made using spare breeze blocks and glass sheets that were going spare. 2 sections of three lights with a walkway in the middle. It was nice to work in, essentially it could have done with a couple of lights extra at least but it did the job.
Eventually though the glass as a surface spooked us a little, accessing the ceiling was a little tricky.
With some greenery added
Different run - 3 shades swapped out, can't quite remember why..
Setup 3 - This setup came after one of our worst nightmares.. A fire - one of the walls is the housing of the water tank.. It gets a little moist and some droplets of water can come through when the water level in the tank is too high... This is one theory, that a reel was getting dripped on.. Or it could have just been the reel itself. Luckily we were on hand, neither the house, us, or any plants got damaged, but very scary all the same. The black and white lining all the walls caught fire and spread around 2 walls. So.. all of that came down, the glass went out. The electrics re-done, anything suspect was binned, all the plastic removed and walls just painted white.
We made a 'basin' of sorts using tarpauline over a wooden frame, and filled with clay pebbles, this gave access around the whole room, but plants bunched in the middle were a little hard to access..
And the pebbles were a nightmare if not a comedic scene to see us walking and almost slipping.. but no injuries thankfully.
However some nice plants were grown, some nice projects were completed, it's had it's time in this configuration.

Setup 4 - in progress - All has been cleared, except the old fan and ducting.
We have re-appropriated some fencing made from pallets, and laid them ready to be over-boarded with two layers of ply.
New cabling has been put in to the room it just needs mounting along with sockets for 3x 1.2 x 2.4 x 2.0 m tents
Cheers all!
