Indoor 984 Watts of CFLs =)

Set up my CFLs in a 6.3x6.3x6.3ft Grow Tent a few week ago. Setup includes:

8 - 6 Bulb Bathroom Fixtures
8 - 6ft. 16AWG Power Extension Cords (for wiring Fixtures)
24 - 6500k 18W CFLs (couldn't find the 23w ones for a good deal)
24 - 2700k 23w CFLs

Total of 48 CFL bulbs at 984 Watts

All together I spent about $250 for this stuff. All brand New. Amazing the kind of deal you can get if you really search Ebay.

Will post pics tomorrow. Currently have 52 Plants in there. I'm using this tent for my plants from after I transplant til day 35. Then they will go into the main HPS tent. Which is 4x8. I'm gonna be upgrading the 4x8 tent to a 5x10 with 2 8" Magnum XXXL Hoods. Cant wait

OH,I don't know,theres quite a few good growers on here that get amazing results with cfls and T5 lighting. I notice Phammy said he's keepin the plants under the cfls until day 35 and then finishing them under the hps lights.

BMX ius right on efficiency vs cost vs power cost and heat reduction... but cfls are cheap and work great in enough numbers for starting... and ive seen amazing grows finished under cfl too.... ultimately, when money provides, I'd reccomend an upgrade as it will benefit you n your plants... but cfls do work.

I'm growing with cfls 450w 3 150w 14000k each and the plants love them and I have no heat problems at all cfls hardly give of heat that's wat they were made for

Lol. Any lED of that size would cost over a $1000. And would not cover my area of 6.3x6.3. Plus my tent is 67 degrees right now with one oscillating fan and the window open. Doesn't seem to dumb to me. And one mh or one HPS will not give you the same affect as having two spectrums. I did this for a specific reason. The veg growth is so much better under flourscents than HID plus both spectrums give tight internoding. With only MH, you have stretching and non branching problems, and with HPS its not too great at the start for autos

cant wait to see pics of your setup! sounds really cool!:thumbs: my take on lighting is "things are changing" people dont get mad at me but hid lighting is streetlight tech. from the 50s
