Outdoor 6 x Mandala Safari Mix (Photo, Reg)

Day 32 - Mandala Safari + Early Top Tao

Went out to check on things last night. Bad news.
The "West Wing" was cut down by a weed trimmer.
It now looks like this....

Somewhere in there are 2 x Mandala Safaris and 1 x Early Top Tao....
I missed where the gardeners would work up to....

East Wing
Meanwhile, the East Wing is still there, for now.
And at least some good news there.
The Mandala Safaris have shown sex --
Two girls and one boy!!!!
And the funky water sensitive one was the boy.
20170412 Mandala Safari + Early Top Tao (4).jpg

Above is the boy. I'm leaving him for now, as I need his pollen.
Maybe dig him out to put in a pot and move away from the girls.
Then I can use his pollen.
It'll stress him a lot, but just got to keep him going for another 1-3 weeks I figure.

She's a girl!!!

She's also a girl!!
A bit more branching at the base of this one.
Thinking about taking some cuts. Maybe just 2.
Don't know what I'll do with them.
But... habit. Can't have too many girls now, can you?

After the last pollen dusting on this Early Top Tao lady,
she's really starting to close down.
Think I'll just leave her for now, let those seeds ripen.
Harvest an over ripe single cola of a couple of grams, with seeds.

Love and hugs,
MJS

Me too. I think that they are just working the West area for veges, but the other areas are more than they need.
If they start, thinking about digging them out and re-potting. Though that will be very stressful -- for me and plants!

i can imagine you will get through when transplanting if you have to just dig about 6 inches away from where the edge of the pot was. so if you planted out of 1 gallon a 4 gallon should suffice.
should come out easy though.
you may not even have to move them.:hippy:

Yeah, something like that.
Though, cos it's a boy and I'm not looking to grow him out to full potential,
even cutting out a few roots won't kill him.
Shock him quite a lot, yes, but def not kill him.
I'm guessing the original root ball from the 1L pot would be still quite tight,
so I just have to make sure that I keep that together.

Or... another option is for now to just pluck off his pollen sacks.
Though, that would mean very regular visits,
cos once they start flowering, those are growing all day every day.

I just hope that I can keep some pollen on him until some of my autos have enough pistils.
Don't know what kind of hybrid cross I'd get,
but a Mandala Safari male with some of those love auto genetics from SS, FB, DP would be wonderful!
I'd like to think it'd end up like a Sweet Seeds "fast version", i.e. auto x photo,
though prob would be far more genetically varied and unpredictable.
Still... you can see what I'm thinking now!!!

I've done enough breeding and pollinating in the past to have a fair idea of what will work.

Stay tuned!!!!

Today, the sun is out, so those ladies and gentleman will be growing nicely, I know!!!!!!!

Day 33 - Mandala Safari

It's actually Day 35 today, I think, but these photos are from two days ago.

20170414 Mandala Safari (2).jpg

This is the male, that had some water sensitivity.
Have since removed the lower couple of yellow leaves.
And also removed some of his early pollen sacks.
He's about 28cm = 11" high only.

She started putting out pre-flowers on the 7th node.
Also about 28cm = 11" tall. That's +18cm in 11 days, so 1.5cm / day.
Wonder how far she'll stretch.

20170414 Mandala Safari (6).jpg

This lady is the healthiest and strongest looking.
No signs of water stress or yellowing.
Also a bit more branching at the lowest nodes.
Has put out a couple of 9-pointer leaves, most are 7- though.
Also about 28cm = 11" tall. That's +18cm in 11 days, so 1.5cm / day.
Still not sure if I should take 2 cuts from her lowest branches.
But I won't have the time to grow them out.....

Since then they've had another day of pretty good sunlight.
A bit cloudier today, and maybe midday showers.
But otherwise pretty good growing weather for up in these mountains.

There's been a bit of rain starting today, going through a couple of days according to weather forecast.
Nice amount, not too heavy. And it's been pretty dry lately, so I think they'll be just fine.
Let's see about the one (maybe two) water sensitive plants, though....

So, last night I gave them a little feed of 3/4 strength CaliMagic and AN Sensi Bloom Coco A+B.
They've been fine with 1/4 strength, no burn at all. In fact, rather light green, could definitely go more.
My thinking is 3/4 strength just before the rains, which will wash it down and dilute it.
The challenge of feeding outdoor guerilla grows -- balancing human feeding/watering with mother nature's plans.

A couple of them are up to about 28cm = 11", smallest up to 23cm = 9".
Figures to about 5cm = 2" in two days for most of them! Nice!!!! They've done well under the sun.

As I went to the site, I discovered some human activity: hmmmmm................ was a bit worried this would happen.
The groundsmen / gardeners here have been working a couple of the raised beds closest to the road.
Just weeding and pulling out some old veges they planted there a long time back.
Maybe they are going to clean them out and prep them for a spring plant of veges or something.
The "West Wing" is on the far outer edge of this area, but so over run with local weeds that I'm hoping they'll leave it.
The "East Wing" is in a different area, and I'm not sure they'll work over the entire site or not.
The other three holes I put down (should call them "North Wing") are some distance away, about 50m = 50yds.

I'm not worried about them "discovering" the ganja. Past experience suggests they don't know what it is!!
But, more that they will just weed everything out. I figure they'll leave the outer edge of the West and not touch the East at all.

Fingers crossed!!!!!

MJS
