New Grower 4 plant mephisto grow NCH, MS, CDLC, DG x 3BOG

@NoFrillsNoBills couple tips I’ve picked up on over the years. I now soak my seed for up to 12hrs in ro water with microbes and some kelp warm up to 85* This will soften the shell. If u have most your seedling coming up with their helmets still on try planting a little Deeper I barely have to help one off and if I do I give it a misting of my foliar spray twice then usually they can pop it off. Another thing is put the seed in the ground pointy side this will help give better chance of nice straight seedling. If one comes up with its helmet the sooner it comes the better. If left on they will get confused and start looking for the light hence the circling around. Spraying them and making sure to get some in the crack and outside usually helps them do it on their own. The babies u have now look good and healthy.
lol I just dropped some gorillasquatch(royal gorilla X hubbasquach) and for the first time in 20+ years of growing I used the shot glass soak method. It seems as though this has become the most accepted method of germming seeds these days. I have always used to ole paper towel method in a sealed container. But I figured I would give it a shot(total pun intended)

Great information. Thanks guys.

As for the pH, how would I go abut finding the rootzone values?

Yeah I used to use the paper towel then went straight from fridge to cup of coco. Now I soak for about 12hrs but as little as 6-8hrs.

@Mizzo81 I was actually reading about germ methods yesterday and dropped the seed(samsquanch) in to a warm shotglass and waited until it sank to plant. Did my best to make sure it was pointy end down as well so fingers crossed i did this right!

And no I do not have a soil meter yet. Looks like a new tool needs to be acquired!

Pointy end supposed to go up. But they usually work it out on their own.

:smokeit: yeeeaaaaaaaa. that explains a lot. I read one word, and somehow turn it around. That gets me in trouble around the house a lot too, honestly.

And on to more fun potential mishaps, in all the excitement I've had, I'd forgotten something important. But this talk of pH jogged my memory and cleared the haze if you will  I just ran a pH test on the water and it's high. I knew better, I'd done this research prior to starting the grow. It's why I bought a pH pen and pH up/down solutions as well as a tds/ppm meter.

My base water out of tap is a pH 7.8

I need to use the pH down I understand. I will use it with the next water this evening. I'm using the Canna A/B series for nutrients. Is there any common knowledge on how this nutrient solution impacts the pH? I guess the best thing to do is to check the values after adding the nutrients to the water?

Usually nutes bring ph down so I would add your nutes then check ph and adjust. Hard water can cause the ph of a solution to rise so check it a couple times to see how it reacts or changes
