Starting my first all Mephisto grow. The last one included MG and Dutch Passion and Dinafem and Sweet Seeds and I found MG were the stronger genetics in that the flowers developed faster and had more trichomes. The others were too slow in comparison. I remember around day 50 the MGs were looking big and chunky and farther ahead by a mile and the others were just barely flowering. I'm pretty sure it was genetics that were behind that not environmental variance. But hey nothing is ever that simple.

I also put my autopots on the shelf and will be growing in 1g regular pots. Hoping the smaller size means shorter cycle duration. I really want to do fast grows from now on so that's my focus. MG beans + small pots = more great product over time.

  • 3 GWK, 3 CDLC, 2 Sour Crinkle and 2 Grapey Walters.
  • Coco
  • RO water.
  • Nutes are Green Leaf MC, SC, CMP and BE plus some Tribus microbes.
  • Temp and RH will follow the VPD chart sweet spots.
  • 24 hour lighting. Lights are 1 600w HPS (use it for heat in the winter, but not in summer) and 8 Autocobs.
  • Pots are on insulation foam board, heat mats and cork flooring planks for now. Got to keep those roots warm.

Not sure about topping and LST yet. I need to get a plan together for what is best for these strains. If anyone has some suggestions please let me know. I have never grown any of these before.

Here they are. They are a little behind right now because I had a hard time dialing in heat in the first week (it was cold) but I'm hoping they catch up and its won't matter in the end. This is day 10. And @slowandeasy I know they are behind so you don't have to mention it! :smoking:

Looking good! They do not look behind much, if any, to me. Ive got 2 Fantasmo Express at 9 days that are both close to this size. These FE's are off to a much stronger start than my 4 previous autos. I really think these Root Riots help me out a lot...I think they keep me from overwatering because they will only hold the perfect amount of water. I think thats why my first 4 were stunted...because I put the seed directly in the soil and probably over-watered at some point. Anywho, I'll be following along on this grow! Good luck!

I presume a benefit of using Root Riot or similar starter plugs is the the first roots are protected, with the plugs more robust protection compared to say coco with perlite.

I've had Root Riots or similar plugs once planted retaining too much water and rotting the stem. I suggest just don't directly water the plugs once planted. Once some plugs are planted in wet medium, they can suck up and retain moisture too well. I leave the tops of the plugs out exposed to air, which fixes this. I will bury the plug, if I have a gangly stem that has stretched too much.

Thanks @First time grower Good luck with the FEs. I have found they are a challenge to grow. And it was on me, not the genetics. I have a couple more left that I'm saving until I feel my skills are up to the task.

Everyone will say the "right" way to germ and do seedlings is whatever works for you and I believe that for sure. I tried lots of ways before I dialed in my method (which I stole from someone). So I won't tell you why I don't like plugs and why I prefer to germ in paper towels and then in to solo cups of coco and then transplant to pots.... because you find that way is working for you!

And yah, over watering when young is a killer. Once you get over that its a lot easier and our plants end up being a lot better.

Nice setup! In my experience, Mephistos are the best in a SOG style grow. They're just perfect plants for a SOG in small pots. The more the merrier and looks like you've got plenty of room. Good luck! Now I wanna see those GWK's! :drool:Just ordered 5 myself after all the hubbub on here and the frost on them is unreal. Would love to see a chem and crinkle from them.

What a great space to grow in! You must feel like a king walking around in there. Just moved to the basement as well, so I’m getting the heat dialed in too.

I think they look fine for 10 days, all the important stuff is underground right now.

Hell ya. I picked up an 18 pack of GWK. I lost 3 of them last week though so my inventory has been reduced by 6 already! I plan to grow a few here and there every grow or so. A friend of mine is growing one now and its a gem.

Its a great tent space for sure. I like being able to walk in to it and all the plants are on the perimeter and I'm in the middle of it all. Maybe one day I'll sleep in there for a night! Its nice a warm finally!

Absolutely! Sleeping with a room full of ladies . They’d probably like it too, you carbon dioxide-emitter you!
