Long story short I have always wanted to try to grow my own weed. Now I'm finally in a place in life where I can devote the time and money into this hobby.
Germinated 3 White Widow Autos on 4 Jan. So far only 1.5 have survived. 2 Days ago I started germinating 1 Northern lights and 1 Kandy Kush both Autos.

Setup: 2x2 Spider farms tent and 4in fan. Upgraded to SF1000 light "with the dimmer". "Got a little camera in there so I dont have to open it constantly to check on environmental levels."
3Gal Pots Fox forest soil mixture of Happy frog, Ocean Forest and Strawberry Fields with some extra perlite.
PH'd RO water, will add nuts/Cal-Mag later

Plan: If I can get 3 or ever 4 plants through germination I will upgrade to a 4x2 and get a bigger light.

I am COMPLETELY open to any advise or criticism. I am extremely green. I have only ever successfully grown tomato and peppers plants before and that was out doors.

Cheers..

Side note: Do to prior commitments I actually haven't used cannabis since 2010 and that was in a state where it was very illegal "shitty dirt weed". Now I live somewhere where its very legal. So this year is going to be interesting.

Welcome. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out for ya.

May I ask why you added strawberry fields to your soil mix? Not a problem just wondering. I was thinking about trying it out but right now Im using a 4:1 happy frog/ocean forest blend.

Welcome to AFN! I’m a new grower also (currently on my 4th grow) and this site is the best around. I grow in coco so unfortunately I have no soil advice, but for germinating I soak my beans in a cup of distilled water 24 hours then after sprinkling Great White Mycorrhizae around and in the hole, I drop it straight in its final home. Spray with spray bottle for a few days til she pops (48-72 hours) Temp/rh high 70s/high 70s. There’s a LOT of successful ways to do it of which I’m sure you’ll hear lol. Starting a journal here will greatly help you move along. Happy growing!

Since this is my first grow I decided to throw some strawberry fields at the bottom of my pots. I guess I'm hoping the extra nutes will help out later in the plants lives since I will be learning how to feed them correctly and will probably make mistakes. I am already very cautious with water and will be with nutes as well.

Well Im running fox farm everything right now. Really good results too. Are you using fox farm nutrients as well?

Also I must have skipped over your part about germination. It really seems to be a toss up. Seems like even experienced growers have germination issues so dont sweat that too much. If you cant get anything to germ, thats when you have a problem.

Also check out the live introductions and stoner chat forum and drop in on the live stoner chat if you havent already. Lots of good people in there popping in an out pretty consistently all day and night. Growers from all parts of the globe. Great way to get a quick response about questions if you run into any issues or wanna run an idea by to see if its a good idea or not.

Feel free to stop by my thread journal. If you want I can link it. Theres lots to learn. And plenty of people to teach. Best growers forum hands down and Ive been on a few.

Been long time user of FF Happy Frog and even your mixture should provide nutes for 4 weeks, main suggestion is know your water source and hold off on adding cal-mag (usually a .5 to 1 gram of plain epsom salt in the nute mix works )
Edit: oops, reread, you using RO
