I have never checked my soil ph or runoff ever. I just check and adjust the ph of all the water/feed getting fed to the plants.I have a bluelab ec pen and soil ph pen.
Both work very well.
The soil ph pen was replaced after 6 months under warranty.
These tools have to be kept impeccable clean. And in the right fluids for preservation.
My ph pen is a Dr. Meter I paid $30 on amazon. Works very well and keeps its calibration.
We trust our grows to the accuracy of these tools.
So this is one place you dont wanna cheap out on.
I think the better pens will be more forgiving to maintenance neglect.
Hold a truer calibration longer.
And have a replacement head if needed.
( that is smart engineering).
That being said,
I still recalibrate my tools when I start a new grow.
Seeds are not expensive.
