Short Stuff Gorilla Glue
Hi all

So grow 3, changed setup now autopots/coco based and have a tent

300w CDM light

So having done 2 grows in Hydro its kind of a reset in my learning. Have planted 4 Short Stuff Gorilla OG beans today, using rapid rooters, air temp 79 degrees, humidity 70%

Was going to use formulex once they've sprouted at half strength for a week/root growth hand watered then switch on the auto pot res where i'll be using canna nutes

Have read that PH should be kept at 6 and apparently to start adding calmat at regular strength on first set of leaves - any thoughts on this?

So any advice that can be given will be gratefully received - tagging @jingo here as he's been amazing in supporting me so far.

I also have the LED lighting from the prev grow is it worth adding that in to the tent do you think?

As I was reading the beginning of this thread I was asking myself did I start this? Seems like I'm growing a lot of short stuff seeds these days and in Cocoa.

I often pre-charge my Coco with my seedling nutrients and my Cal Mag. Often I'll leave out the grow nutrients because the Cal Mag has plenty of nitrogen for young seedling. The main reason I do it that way and most people would advise against doing it my way is because the seedlings so often will be past their first set of leaves by the time I feed them the first time. So I want them to have that cal-mag on board because I've had second set of leaves in less than 7 days at times. So really it's going to depend upon how Optimum your conditions are, I would say that you probably won't need to put in the Cal Mag right away. The rapid rooters will usually give you a good fast start, but all they are is Coco with a week seedling mix General Hydroponics nutrients. So I always plant my seedlings directly into the Coco. That gives them a little bit faster start.

Thanks @jingo I'll follow your lead, will go with half strength formulex once I see some action

So beans popped up after 36 hrs - well 3 out of 4 - 4th one came another 2 days later. Have moved them into the autopots as environment was easier to control.

Here they are 4 days after popping. Got bit leggy in the dome but seemed to have started off ok - I think!

300w Phillips CDM at 20 inches above, temp 77 degrees, Humidity fluctuates but averages 65%

Got a fan blowing gentle on the stems

Have pre charged coco with half strength formulex & calmag. Watering direct for now with plain RO @ PH6 until the girls grow a few more leaves then I'll turn auto pot reservoir on & switch to the canna nutes - I'll use the light feed schedule from the site as a guide.

@jingo - do you think they're ok to leave or should i add in a bit more coco on top to lose some height off the stems?

Will use silica as well i think when i switch pots on.

Hey thanks Rambo, really looking fwd to seeing what the CDM lamp can do in the coco/autopot environment.

Agree with you, this grow have got all the ingredients for success.
A quality light, a well proven and efficient watering-system and high-grade seed-genetics.
Also, with jingo around and with you doing your homework, this cant go wrong.

Im in to my second run with autopots/coco now and its working really, really good.

If I were going to add anything more on top to brace up those stems it would be more clay Pebbles. Otherwise they usually are just fine if they get a little stretch in the beginning.

You need to watch close for the day when you have to feed a lot more, you may already be there, just be alert.

Bit more movement

Got the pebbles on 3 out of the 4 @jingo wanted the little late one to get a bit higher if poss

Seeing a bit of curling on leaves and they’re pretty light in colour but that might be the lamp messing with me!

Gave a very light mix of rhizo and formulex like 1/4 strength about 25 ml per plant

Temp is 77, humidity 65. Light on 24:0
