Bill's Fungi Fun

The 1st two bags are progressing nicely.

And plate is still clean.

The Extras
So when I started on this the wife started bugging about getting lion's mane mushroom as it's supposed to be good for mental clarity. As an aside I got a few varieties of gourmet mushrooms to try out. Since I'll be using the same procedures to propagate these I decided to include them in the thread.

The table top mushroom farm.

Convenient how a propagation tray and dome fits perfectly.

The Shiitake log soaking and in it's own tray and dome.
And here's a label if anyone wants to know where I got em.

Did the break n shake on my first two bags this morning.......
IMG20231209082438.jpg

Plates for B+ and GT looking good.
IMG20231209082502.jpg

Still nothing showing in the bags yet. These were done with spores instead of LC.

If the tops look white it's just reflective shine.

Shiitake failure?
Noticed more green spots growing on the log. More H2O2 treatments to try and stay ahead of it till a couple of them finish up.
IMG20231210065949.jpg

Hopefully within a week I can harvest one or two for clone isolation.
IMG20231210065940.jpg

Got weird fuzzy puffball growth on other side of it.
IMG20231210070001.jpg

Might be the mycelium growing out or something else
More research needed.

Shiitake log.
Enough to start working on.
IMG20231213065441.jpg

Seems a lot of the contamination started in the innoculation depressions. Either from the soak or carried on the log can't be sure but so far only thing showing contamination.

IMG20231213065454.jpg

No shrooms yet but no contams either.

Shiitake
So cut two this morning and set them up for spore prints
IMG20231213101546.jpg

And cloning in agar plates.
IMG20231213101455.jpg

Moved the whole log out on the front porch to finish off this flush then will find a spot in the backyard for it. Really don't need that green in the house

Shiitake
Got good spore prints, bit damp from the fresh caps but they'll dry.
IMG20231215091139.jpg

And since anything after this is specific to shiitake ( substrates etc ) that will conclude this bit of fun and we'll just continue with the edible non gourmet fungi.

Well, cut the Ecuador bags along the front and started introducing fresh air a few days ago, Nothing yet but got a small bin ready for a fruiting chamber so will be cutting off the tops and transferring them into it.
