Indoor Window sill grow

Thought I would share a few pics of some Critical Kush Autos (Barney's Farm) I've been growing at the window. The first plant was germinated in December, and grew 114 days at the window before harvest two weeks ago. I had topped the girl fairly early on, rooted the top and grew the clone too. Pollinated all but the uppermost buds on the clone with pollen collected from Jack Herer semi-auto clones last summer. I've been leaving the clone to cook a good long while, as I hope for some viable seeds. As a result, she's turned purple in lots of places, leaves dying, etc. Still another week at least to go, as she's still pushing out white pistils in several places.

Pics below: the big girl is the mum, now curing in jars. The small girl is the clone just over a week ago large.6432dc789ef95_IMG_20230409_153212(1).jpeg.9d1f294a32c93f71a3e4219fd53fde25.jpeglarge.IMG_20230409_153147.jpeg.3879b11b9f505c75f0e81fa449120242.jpeglarge.IMG_20230409_153229.jpeg.a4f01e37e068f33d99ced84d9e6b4c38.jpeglarge.IMG_20230409_153252.jpeg.f2598b8c959ecb970765e972cb6716f4.jpeglarge.IMG_20230409_153305.jpeg.ec62d46a65956aace3a9f70071a35b5c.jpeglarge.IMG_20230409_153314.jpeg.acec57aed7624096c0df76f911ef7478.jpeglarge.IMG_20230409_153349.jpeg.576afd0277ad75d9aa602471f4c93847.jpeglarge.IMG_20230413_002138.jpeg.ba2e32df310f192fae9a18c906ef380e.jpeglarge.IMG_20230413_005431.jpeg.ded2a01f1dd976ba9785cfe391f72124.jpeglarge.IMG_20230413_005440.jpeg.2026c71c100e97c3c8907548a9418d07.jpeg

Did you cut the clone when I'm flower?
No, just topped the big girl in early veg after she reached five nodes, then rooted the cut. She's somewhere between a fortnight and three weeks behind her mum. She hasn't been topped or pruned, just kind of opened out lots of branches on her own.

Well done on cloning that auto mate. I take it the clone didn't re veg as such and grow more nodes it just rooted and flowered.
Interesting to see , I have taken note. :toke:

In fact it did veg for a few weeks, but not as long as the big mum. Also the wee girl was in a much smaller pot, because I only grew her to pollinate really. Reckon root restriction started her flowering. I've successfully cloned autos before, and while they don't grow as big as the mums, they sometimes veg for quite a while and give a decent yield. Bigger the pot, better the environment, bigger they get.

Obviously there's not the same potential as cloning photos, because autos only give so much time in veg. But still it can extend a harvest, give backup options, or as here allow pollination without sacrificing yield on the original mum plant. Kinda handy too for example if you only have a single bean from a strain you fancy.....hey presto - two girls. :greenthumb:

I haven't really explored cloning autos fully, but I might push it further in a future grow, see if I can get more than one clone going. It does help if the strain grows on the larger side, and puts out side branches readily.

Cool experiment mate.
I knew it was possible to root a semi flowering plant. Good to see.

Thought I'd share some examples of past cloning.

This is a Jack Herer "auto" from Dr Ray Seeds. I made a large number of clones from this plant, which turned out to be a semi-auto, regular, male! Doh! Here's half a dozen from a larger bunch of clones.

This one was a clone from a Big Yield Auto by Phoenix Seeds. She's 85 days old here (from making the cut) and I harvested at 93 days. As you can see, she got pretty large and I was able to train her to a ScrOG net. Not as big as her mum, but still filled a few jars... :greenthumb:

So yeah, cloning autos is not only fun but can get decent results too...

I did a wee side project, reversing a Super Kush clone to pollinate some CBD strains plus another SK clone. I've been letting them ripen in the tent, the better to develop any seeds that have been produced. Recently hauled out the CBD Auto, which is now extremely ripe and near the end of her life. I suspect she flowered a bit early to be pollinated (something of a theme with autos in my breeding efforts, as I think Joshua was the same). Anyway I'll comb through the buds just in case. What she has produced is the most intensely purple leaves and buds, almost black. Quite lovely really. I've popped her by the window to enjoy some sun. I'll let her pot dry out, so she'll gently fade into drying. She didn't do too badly considering she spent her life in a King Pot Noodle container, with no heating, just at room temperature which sometimes must have been fairly chilly...
