So I posted about a week ago regarding a biological invasion of my Autopot reservoir and I want to say thanks to all who replied. I ended up dumping the tank and sterilizing it with cleaning vinegar (for the residual salt build up), followed by a bleaching of the tank. I even did the same with the powerhead running it in a bleach solution for 15 minutes. I refilled the system using Distilled H2o and replaced the Power head after thoroughly rinsing all...only to find my P.H. out of whack and the return of the oily red film +/- 16 hours later! I finally broke down and spoke with the girl at my LHS and gave her the run down from top to bottom. I never knew that running the Power Head 24/7 would over agitate the tank and cause a rebellion in my reservoir! I removed the head completely and hand agitate it once or twice a day and go figure...the solution in the Res is clear and my PH is stabilized...who woulda thunk it!
