Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

You are correct, 2 would fit in a 4x4. But I can start up to 4 Juniors in a 2x4...where as you could only fit 1 City Pickers in a 2x4 to start plants. You could def do 2 larger strains in a 4x4 with 2 City Pickers, however I would prefer to do more thn 2 plants in a 4x4. I feel like there is wasted space when I do 2 plants in a 4x4. I have 2 Juniors in a 4x4 right now. They take up 80% of the tent. So about 20% wasted space. Kind of why I am getting a couple of 3x3 tents. I can do 2 small/medium strains in a 3x3 and fill.it out fully. Doing 3 or 4 plants in a 4 x4 can be hard, you have to have the right strains and not over train them. You can do 4 Sour Stompers in a 4x4, they grow tall and narrow. But most of my plants grow larger than advertised, so a medium sized strain becomes a larger plant than expected. The only true small strain that I have ever done was 24 Carat and I was not a huge fan of it. Even my Sour Cracks do rather well, I can do 4 of them in a 4x4. But not many other Auto strains are small enough for me to do more than 2 in a 4x4 to all the way to harvest. I can only do 4 to 6 plants in my 4x8 and there is a fine line on how many. I had 5 in Juniors, but 1 was smaller. Also, my home made SIPs will be 22x16 inches. So you can do up to 6 in a 4x4, but 4 would be my max. Peace, slow
the ugly pink / red version is only 27$ each..might grab a couple for upcoming run!

Not sure, and I really dont think Condensation is as important with a larger amount of Base Soil vs smalle amount. I can easily spray the soil with a Spray Bottle if I want more condensation. Realistically without warm enough conditions, you wont get condensation with a Shower cap either. Only 1 way to find out how well it works, and that is to try it out. Was too busy with Wrestling Regionals to make it to Menards yesterday like I wanted to. Dropping the kid off at bus stop and going tomorrow morning. Will add pics as I build it. Peacex slow

Believe misting will be required for optimal performance - really depends on how high soil / mulch is, as moisture Is needed in mulch and top dressings ....... but as @Tom Sowell points out his is dripping wet so go figure ...... Until you build / try who knows, right .....

Strains like Ripleys OG in an Original EB would fill a 3x3 or two Sour Livers in a 2x4 in Juniors and the list goes on - Using a City Slicker and a 3x3 is another good choice so it really depends on strain / tent / container and don’t forget height of the tent as well as lighting ...... If I lived in Michigan and had multiple grows suppose I would own several different SIP Containers and tent sizes with City Slickers, Orginal and Junior being on that list ......

Not sure I would do a build, why reinvent the wheel, if a solid lid works better gotta wonder why you don’t see that commercialized ...... but then I don’t live in Michigan and have the luxury of experimenting and guess no real desire either to try with vegetables so I am bias plus having issue with plant and height of mulch, stem rot, condensation and if I smoke a joint who knows what else I’ll dream up, just being honest but always open to learning, always .....

Hope your son placed well slow!

Peace,
MOB

Well MOB, the reason I want to try this simply because I think that I can make one that is a better size for my needs and cheaper. I also feel like I can make some modifications that are improvements on the "The Wheel". I only have 1 thing that I am not 100% positive how I will do it, until I go to Menards in a while. I am going to use a couple of Net Cups for my Wicking Pods. But not 100% positive how high I will put the rez and how I will elevate it to my desired height. I have a few ideas. I also have ideas on how to improve a few things, including using a discharge hose instead of just an overflow hole in. This way I can choose a couple different ways on how to collect runoff and keep it 100% pest free. I have been going over a few ideas on how to set up the rest of my room. I will have a better idea of what I want to do once I get go to Menards. I was going to get a few 3x3 tents to replace my 4x8. But I might get a 7x7. Since I just bought a 6 piece Samsung Light Bar Kit for one of my 2x4 tents I have had an idea stuck in my head on how to maximize my space. It will involve creating a light that nobody has done that I know of. I have to work out the numbers, and it will be an initial investment...but if my calculations are correct the investment will be well worth it and will potentially allow me to grow 2 to 3 times the amount of plants in the same amount of space. This is another reason I want to make my own that are a certain size. So I can maximize my space. I really hope my ideas work. They could be game changers an honestly I think that I am on to something good! The lighting will be one of a kind, and I think that people sre going to like it. This will work best in a SQUARE tent that is 6x6 or larger. Will share my idea once I get further along. Peacex slow

I don’t live in Michigan thus no real opportunity to experiment ..... applaud you for your efforts slow .....

sizing container to space and lights as well is so important for maximum yield ....

for reservoir plenty of air space above water level would be my recommendation. Peace, MOB

How much of an Air gap do you think would be best? There is not much of a gap in the Juniors. I am not 100 sure what I am doing yet or the height I will use. Once I bring the totes home I will add 2 gal of water and Mark the Tote on inside and put'a mark for the 2 gal water level. That is how much a City Picker holds in the rez. I will determine if I need more or less water and put the drain hose at that height and create the Rez. I will have s completely bug free lid on the Tote. My Pool Noodle will be mounted like I used to do 20 years ago with Mediumless Deep Water Culture. Basically a large version of an Aero-Cloner Puck. The feeding tube will be sealed at the tote and also have a filter over the feeding tube to keep any unwanted pests out. I will also have s filter on the end of the discharge hoses. Minor improvements that will make the Tote superior. Peace, slow.

I would allow 3/4 gallon for air - fill up to 2 Gallon and mark and then add 3/4 gallon for second line - you don’t want too much as wicking action will decrease with height but not too little space either as air is important to the roots even when growing in an anaerobic environment.

Man, @slowandeasy
The suspense is doing me bodily harm!
Work through the night and get those DIYs finished so we can have a peak! :headbang:

Ok Everyone, I just spent an hour at Menards looking around. Unfortunately With my idea of how to increase my plant numbers in the same space allowed my Home Made idea is not ideal. Tbe Totes are a few inches taller and that makes a huge difference and is not ideal. On a POSITIVE note after looking around forever I picked up a City Picker and they are WRONG on the size. They are actually less than 24 inches long and less than 20 inches wide. With the rebate the City Pickers are $25. Honestly that is a great deal for the size and even tho I can make my own for cheaper, I will try one of these out because it was free basically as I used my $30 rebate check on it. Will take a pic when I get home. They need to be cleaned well before using. And another positive note my Juniors are perfect size for my idea on how to maximize my space and do more plants, so I will use them in that space. I can use my larger SIPs in my other spacesx but do less of them. Peace, slow

I almost bought one of those for yuck's sake. It's like a double-wide Jr. I liked the fact that they are on wheels.

I transplanted 3 into their final pots yesterday. Cover crop still going nuts, haven't chopped it yet. I'm going to go ahead and order some worms, this peaty soil likes to form a.... crust. Worms should break that up. Was going to hit the bait shops but I'm afraid of what kind of funky pests might be in there. Not sure mail order worms will be any better, but whatever.

Got some side plants started too. Mini rose bush, starting some lavender and a couple flowers for outside. Low humidity isn't a problem any more, lol. The 2-stage controllers are doing their thing. Best purchase I've made in a while. Before I was tweaking fan speeds, vents, whatever to try and achieve stability. Now it's set and forget -- on lockdown. 76-79 degrees / 53-63% humidity all day.

Already spotted around 5 dead fungus gnats. So it begins. I'm ready this time, bring it bitches. Bassiana has been applied. Every water has a little BTI in it. After all the seedlings are in, I'll order a round of nematodes.

Not sure my old, shittily germinated seedlings are going to pull through. Gonna have to spin up a couple more to fill the empty buckets.

Are you using that same soil? Good luck bro
