New Grower Waxy's Quantum Ikea Cab- White Widow XXL

Great thread  I love diy setups  I did my first grow in a IKEA cab
All looks fine just one question , why don't you put the led driver outside the cab?
Thanks! I had a lot of fun building my own space! It was rushed but turned out alright anyway. We are going to be headed in to the cold season here soon so I'm going to need all the extra heat I can get. That's the idea anyway. It works out great because I can have it nice and warm during the seedling stage then as things progress, my temps should land around 75 during the cold months...I hope. Lol. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Lol, I am struggling with cold weather now, had to put in a extra light to get the temp up . Nice planning

That's what I'm talking about. Worse case, I put the lights all the way up and crank them to eleven. Should be enough I hope.

Nice and tidy DIY setup you've got there mate and a good start :goodluck:
Thanks! I'm satisfied with how it turned out.

Nice setup, looks like your on your way. I employ an Ikea cabinet as well, dimensions for depth and height are the same, but mine is about 40" wide. I hope the WW XXL doesn't get to big for the space. Following along.

Nice! I wish I had the room for one of the those but I barely had enough for this one so it'll have to do. Lol Do you have a journal up and going? I'd like to follow along.:pass:

As for the WW, I highly doubt she'll be outgrowing my space. She has run into a bit of a speed hump, which I'm going to update shortly.:joy:

How's it hangin friends?

I realized that I missed my day 10 update so lets backtrack a bit and get you all caught up!

Day 10
Up to this point, I'll make note that I've done absolutely nothing since the last update except for try to maintain environment. Were still in the 78-82 degree range with humidity from 55-75%. Humidity will drop below 40 but I have hung up a damp towel in there that I re-wet about twice a day. Seems to be doing the trick. The soil was still relatively moist from the last watering so I let her be.

As you can see, she's got a bit of funky growth goin on. I've been trying to sort out what it could be and I think I might have it narrowed down. I also could be completely off the mark so let me know what you think. I'm chalking it up to one three things:crying:
- pH is on the alkaline side
- Got a little overzealous when mixing in the frass
- Genetic Mutation (however I have pretty much counted this one out. More on this later)

I mixed in both castings and bio-charr, which are naturally relatively alkaline (+/- 9.0), so that can have something to do with it but I only added about 10% of each. My seedling mix started around 6.2 ph so I don't think it could have made much of a drastic change.

It could very well be a genetic thing but the new growth is getting better and better so that brings me to why I think it's a Charge (frass) overdose. Even though I only added a half dose, according to the product description, I still think it was a bit much for the poor little lady. In my past experience with charge, too much can cause strange leaf twisting and burnage (in tomatoes). I think this could be the culprit but I don't know the WHY which is really the only thing keeping me from settling on this 100%. The plants ALWAYS snap out of it but it's a bummer that I had to go and set them back the way I did.:wall:hi
Oh well. Live and learn. Wait until you see her up to date pics. This was just 4 days ago.
