I guess the question would be, what are you wanting to do with this plant? Why do you want to top her?
Like, if your head room is limited, or you want to fill the space sideways more, then either top her or just hard LST to the side and open her up.
Personally, if I top I just carefully take the very top, and not remove too many nodes.
Otherwise, why let her grow more nodes just to remove them?
What do you want to do with this plant, and why do you want to top her? Then you can find the best approach to it.
The other plants I've grown have been in a 60x60 and have only been topped to create an even canopy I suppose just to increase yield. Because I only have the two lights and light penetration is not that of the bigger units out there I want to get both the girls into the net and lollipop them after stretch. I'll have a look at her later and make a decision. :smoking:

Your Lemon Kix is looking great, by the way! Very bushy. I like your leaf tucking!
Honestly, I haven't even touched this girl, she's a virgin, the leaf tucking is mother nature doing her thing, maybe it's the frequencies she gets played :smoking:

Yeah, even canopy is a key.
My last indoor grows were micro style, very little light penetration, so opened them up.
Why not a gentle LST, holding the base firm but pulling the top over 90 degrees to one side, then opening up the lowers in the other directions?
It won't slow down the growth at all, because not removing of the apical growth.
Then again, it's a Dutch Passion Lemon Kix? I have seen some of those get very big.
You say she's on day 18?
Has she shown any pistils yet?
Nowadays I try not to top autos after they show pistils and start the stretch. I think it interrupts them, not so good.

No pistols yet, I think if it's to be done today has to be the day, I just didn't expect her to get this big so soon.

Fair enough. Though do consider an LST rather than a top.

i top mine generally for more tops and a level canopy and i feel if there healthy and done at the right time they don't seem to mind and girls i had to supercrop always seemed to go crazy anyhow onwards and upwards folks

Ok so here she is Day 18, I haven't seen her since this morning she's in an out building. Am I right on counting these node spacings and right in thinking that if I top at the 4th its from underneath @St. Tom ? That trunk seams awfully thick for topping, it's almost half a plant, maybe I should off done it day 15 or something and I see pistols @Shiva's Mistress

@DeanOnAuto - I topped mine at the 5th and took the 6th off as well. It was growing so fast. I had to wait for the 5th to stick out enough from the 4th to get cutters on the stem. I don't have the most even canopy but I do have 5 main colas going instead of just one and they are all even with each other. I topped and trained for three reasons:

1) height - my tent is short so I want it to stay short-ish and bushy
2) yeild - more main colas in the limited space, I can realistically only manage 1 plant in there.
3) I like futzing around and tying the branches down to see them grow
