Outdoor The trails and tribulations of a first time grower [journal]

Harvested the rest of the plant 2 days ago. Really dense and big buds on this one. The plant was about 50cm high, and yielded 307gr of wet and sticky buds! If I manage to cure it properly, and apply the 75% weight loss during drying and curing, I'll land at about 75gr of dried bud. I'd say KAPOWZZAAAAA to that!

One more question for you experts. Yesterday I checked in the drying tent, and I noticed some of the buds where becoming a little brown at the bottom. I was immediately paranoid about mold so I checked them, and found nothing. I am on guard, as the last few days before harvest, we got rain and I cut out a little piece of bud that started becoming brown and gooey, so I cut it out because it didn't look healthy.
The buds that have brownish color now smell good and are sticky with crystals, so I'm just hoping it's the trichomes ripening that's giving them this color. What do the more experienced growers think?

Drying in the tent is over, and I have jarred the buds now for curing. I'm opening them everyday to let the excess moist out and refresh the air. I weighted just to have a reference in future. I ended up with 71gr of dried bud! YASSS! Had a tiny taste yesterday, and the high is a little different than the other think different. It's more energetic and slight edgy in a good way, and also a little stronger, I think. The taste is more pronounced and harsher in a way, but I think that has to do with it being dry, but not cured yet. Anyway, I'm very happy with the way things turned out and the summer we've had. I've managed over 100gr off of 2 plants on my first try. But more importantly, I learned a lot of do's and don'ts first hand! Can't wait to try out new strains next summer.

In the mean time, my frisian dew photo period is coming along nicely. Thick and dense buds forming. When do you start to see the purple phenotype in bloom? I'm kinda hoping for that...
My other very slow autoflower kinda plant is also ready for harvest. I took the main colla and some branches yesterday. Nice middle hard buds with an awesome piney, hazy smell. And sticky as hell. Can't wait to taste some of that northern light goodness.
I'm now letting the side branches fatten up until I see the calyces of the top of each flower swelling and brown pistils everywhere on the flower. Then I'm harvesting. Doing this without a microscope, so winging it a little...

Thanks man. This picture is of a good middle sized one. Look at the ones attached. I'll take pictures of some dried ones tonight and post them. Always good to see some bud porn now and than.

Just went to check and open the jars for some fresh air. I have one jar with bud that has been curing for around 5 to 6 weeks now. For lack of space, I added a small amount of the newly dried bud to this jar. Today I took 2 'older' buds out that ate beginning to look brown, which I though was mold, but is probably just the chlorophyll dying now from the curing. However, I did notice these buds smell like hay, although before they were fine... I was reading online about this, but there are more answers than assholes so let me ask the experienced growers @greenskell912 @TheMongol @fryge @mariasanchez @blue @senorsensi @thegreenbandit and everyone that feels like answering.
Why the hay smell? Is it something that will go away with further curing? Is it because I maybe overdried them earlier? Does it have something to do with the brown color of the buds. I will post pics if needed or explain in detail my drying method (secret jardin tent with small fan and filter in my basement, which is dry and constant temperature).
Thanks in advance if you take the time to reply!
